Auras

Looking at these magical skills, I'm not so sure about combining them with my aura, like, what would that even do? I mean, I could try combining them just to see what would happen.

I guess I'll just start with a basic [Fireball] and see what happens.

Using my mana, I generate a relatively small [Fireball] and then slowly infused my aura into it.

I then release it into the air.

The results were a little different from what I was expecting to be honest. After I fired the [Fireball] it seemed a tiny bit fiercer, as well as a bit lost, which made no sense at all.

'Why did it seem lost? I get it being fiercer, but lost? Is it something to do with me? Or is it something else?' I tried again and got a very similar result. The only difference being that it was a little less fierce.

I decided to ask for a second opinion from Cythistia, to which she agreed. So I showed her the aura infused [Fireball] and this time it felt like it was trying to be impressive?

"Uhh, what's a normal [Fireball] look like?"

I showed her just a regular [Fireball] then did another aura infused one, which once again, felt like it was trying to be impressive.

"Hmm, that normal [Fireball] was just that, a Fireball. As for that empowered [Fireball] it felt and looked like it was trying to be something more than it actually was." She concluded.

'I gathered that, but what I want to know is why?' I asked back.

"Hmm… your aura is somewhat a reflection of yourself to a degree, correct?" She asked. I nodded to say yes.

"Then maybe it's got something to do with what you want it to do? After all, your aura reflects a part of you, which probably includes things like emotions and desires. It may also be affected by your subconscious thoughts as well." She explained.

I thought about her words for a moment and they made sense, but I still didn't quite understand what she meant.

So I asked, 'could you explain it a bit more? I don't quite understand.'

"That's fine." She said cheerily, before going in to explain what she said to me.

"Most spells work off of a predetermined Enchanted Scripture. Do you know about this?"

I shook my head as I'd never heard of such a thing before.

"Right, so, the Enchanted Scripture is a magical index of sorts that the gods created way back when, and this scripture is what depicts how a spell looks, what it does and how to cast it among other things. This scripture is what allows most of the world to use and cast those spells. You following along so far?"

I nodded.

"Good, now, auras on the other hand, are something are fundamentally different to spells. Whereas spells require either the Enchanted Scripture or some sort of magical array to cast, auras don't require such things, you just need to be strong enough physically to handle one and powerful enough to even have one."

She continued on, "There are different types of auras out there, such as Elemental Auras, which are generally classed as the lowest tier, don't let that fool you though, as they are still very strong regardless. After that would be Physical or Magical Auras, which can use multiple elements at once. After that would be Soul Auras, which are hard to come by as you need to be able to use your soul. Last is the most powerful of auras, Bloodline Auras. Powerful because they have the support of an extremely strong bloodline, powerful because they can harness the power of the other auras, though, only to a certain degree."

"As for how auras affect your spells, it's based on how you intend to use it, whether that be consciously or unconsciously. So, for example, if you were angry, they would be more violent and vicious, or if you were in a panic, they might be faster to reach the intended target." She finished explaining.

I mulled over her words for a while, coming to accept them as true, though I still had one question to ask.

'What you say makes sense, though I feel the presence of something else alongside it, it feels fierce.' I explained to her.

"Hmm? What do you mean?" She asked.

'It feels like there's something else, something that wants to...' I stopped there, not knowing how to explain what it felt like. She awaited my response calmly.

...

Eventually I came up with a response that I felt was good enough to explain what it felt like.

'It feels fierce, like a ferocity that wants to devour more than it can or should.' This was the best way I could explain it.

"Hmm... Which aura do you actually have?" She asked after thinking a little.

'Bloodline.' Was all I told her.

"...What?"

I looked at her confused and a little scared. Was what I said bad in some way?

She stopped walking, with a dumbfounded look on her face. My heart started palpitating. Was this going to fuck up my chance at love again? Would she despise me for this?

"Sister?" That's when I heard Kyristhus call out to Cythistia, making her snap out of her stupor.

"H-Huh? O-Oh, uhh what is it?"

"You... Just stopped. Is everything okay?" He asked.

"Y-Yeah, it's fine nothing to worry about, just... shocked is all." She replied.

"Shocked? About what?" He inquired.

"W-Well..." She seemed uncomfortable with sharing what I said to her. At this point I'd had time to calm my nerves but was still worried about what she felt towards me. She looked over, I think to ask if she could tell her brother what I told her.

I nodded.

She took a deep breath before saying, "She has a [Bloodline Aura]."

I then saw that Kyristhus reacted the same way, just standing there in a daze, that's when I noticed that everyone else around us had frozen in the same way, except for Dorrak who just seemed to be standing there nonchalantly, as if he wasn't fazed by what was just said like everyone else was.

Everything was quiet for a few minutes until Cythistia brought everyone back to reality by coughing.

When everyone regained their senses, they all turned to look at me. My heartrate skyrocketed. 'That's another weird phrase.'

The way they were looking at me was frightening. I wasn't sure if they would just suddenly pounce at me or something. My breathing became laboured as my eyes lost their focus and my vision became blurry, the pressure of everyone staring at me was too intense.

"Enough!" I heard a booming voice shout out, catching everyone's attention away from me and releasing me from the pressure they were putting on me. "You're all scaring her." Dorrak said with a stern look on his face.

"S-Sorry!" "I-I apologise!" "F-Forgive me!" I heard varying stag's say various things towards the large and imposing minotaur.

"We should probably get moving again." I heard Cythistia tell everyone, and they all got back to trotting along towards Athenela.

Meanwhile I went back to what I was doing originally, combining skills.
