CHAPTER 261

Silver stood in the silence that Ethan had left behind, her legs feeling like they might give out beneath her.

The tension in the room was unbearable, thick with everything unsaid, everything broken.

She could still hear Ethan's footsteps fading, the sharpness of his words cutting through her heart like a blade.

"I never wanted to hurt you."

But she had. She had hurt him deeply, and no matter how many times she replayed that night in her mind, there was no excuse, no way to take back what she had done.

And the fact that she wanted it, made her feel bad about herself.

Shawn took a hesitant step toward her, his face pale beneath the blood still trickling from his nose. "Silver, I—"

"Don't." Her voice was cold, a sharpness in it that startled even her. She still couldn't look at him, couldn't bear to see the guilt that mirrored her own reflected in his eyes.
