Chapter 6: Martial Phoenix Empires Plan

Wudi realized that he needed to take over for his uncle, or he would really lose his mind. As he looked at Chou Xinniang, he knew that he really just wanted to leave as soon as possible and give the Martial Phoenix Empire an excuse to cancel the arrangement.

He Jianyu had only done all of this to anger Wudi and Tian Shou, so that they would cancel the arranged marriage and they'd have an excuse for an argument or even a war. After all, the Martial Phoenix Emperor could just claim that Wudi denied a marriage with his daughter and called her ugly. He could even deny anything about there being a stepdaughter. Chou Xinniang was clearly just an excuse to start trouble.

Considering how much their people loved their princess, Feng Yuyun, they would probably rage when they found out that they had denied the marriage. It was a brilliant scheme, and at this point, it was nearly impossible to prevent it. But why should they be scared? If they wanted a scandal, then he might as well let them have one to really talk about.

Wudi smiled, mustering a grand smile and said, "Uncle Shou, why so upset? You finally have a niece." Everyone in the room looked shocked at what Wudi said, and Feng Yuyun looked at Wudi weirdly.

Wudi looked at Chou Xinniang adoringly and said, "Uncle Jianyu, I had only wanted to leave to get Chou Xinniang accommodations for her stay ready. I was so excited that I almost made a blunder and just left," smacking his knee at the thought of his mistake. He looked every bit as genuine as can be and continued, "I can't wait to show Chou Xinniang the academy. I mean, the Martial Phoenix Emperor's daughter attending the academy will cause a huge shock. I can't wait to brag to my classmates."

Jianyu was shocked at this turn around. They obviously didn't want Chou Xinniang striding through the academy claiming to be the emperor's daughter. After all, Chou Xinniang was just a mortal, not even speaking of looks. How could the emperor's daughter have no cultivation to speak of?

Knowing that things had gone downhill, he looked at Tian Shou and said, "Brother Shou, aren't you happy to have such a kind and sweet niece?" Giving a signal to Chou Xinniang, she began to look as cutely and coquettishly as possible, but it was a grotesque sight.

Wudi thought, "Oh no, he's trying to make Uncle mad" worried and about to interfere in the conversation. He looked at Uncle Shou and realized his face had gained some calm and that he might have realized the same thing as Wudi – they didn't want people to actually think that Chou Xinniang was the Martial Phoenix Emperor's daughter. Uncle Shou slowly sat down and said, "I suppose you're right. I was hasty due to her being a step-daughter, but as long as Tian'er is happy," with a slight smile that was rather odd-looking on Uncle Shou's face.

Wudi continued, "Of course, I see why you were mad now, Uncle, but she's still the emperor's daughter, and I nearly forgot she was a step-daughter as she looks so much like sister Yuyun." Yuyun nearly threw up when she heard "sister Yuyun" and thought of the implication of having to actually take Chou Xinniang as a sister. She soon became mad when she realized he'd said they looked alike.

Looking back at Jianyu, you could see he was thinking of a plan, but Wudi continued before he could say anything, "Now that I think about it, is Chou Xinniang the emperor's goddaughter?" Slapping his head as if he thought he was a fool, he continued, "That must be the case. The emperor must have taken Chou Xinniang as a daughter because Uncle Jianyu is her father. It'd explain why you all look so much alike." Jianyu snapped out of his thoughts to stare at Wudi, and it looked as if Wudi really believed what he had said.

Hearing the flattering words and Wudi's seriousness, Chou Xinniang's face lit up red. Jianyu, calming any anger rising from the comments, began to speak, but before he could, Wudi said, "She has your nose, Uncle Jianyu." Like it was said previously, Jianyu had a hooked nose and wasn't a handsome man, but he wasn't ugly either. However, he hated his nose more than anything else about himself. Hearing Wudi's words and looking at Chou Xinniang in shock, Jianyu saw her smile coquettishly, and it was true - her nose was, in fact, hooked and looked even more so when she smiled.

This caused Jianyu to lose it, releasing his aura. He screamed at Wudi, "You little bastard! I'll kill yo-" It was then he felt a tug on his sleeve and saw Feng Yuyun shaking her head. In truth, she was also very angry but knew what Wudi was trying to do. Honestly, they could have come up with a different reason for starting a war, but they wanted to see if Wudi was alive or dead. It now seemed the rumors of him being hit by lightning were a lie. Her father said that even he'd be dead or grievously injured if hit by tribulation lightning.

Jianyu reined in his anger and decided that this meeting falling through could at least still lead to an excuse for war. With a shocked expression, Wudi interrupted Jianyu's train of thought, saying, "Congratulations, Uncle Jianyu, for advancing your cultivation. Quickly, Chou'er, congratulate your father." Hearing this, Tian Shou nearly lost control and laughed himself. Tian Shou's face was even twitching, and Feng Yuyun had a shocked expression before looking deeply at Wudi. It seemed that despite the insults, she was rather impressed by his verbal lashing.

Jianyu, staring menacingly at Wudi, quickly losing control of his anger, said, "This is over. The wedding is off, and you can be sure that the emperor will hear of this." Grabbing his niece and leaving the room, with Chou Xinniang waddling behind, was a funny sight after what they endured. Before Chou Xinniang left the room, she looked at Wudi with a coquettish look and smiled with a hint of red on her cheeks.
