Kiss day

*Di-Hee's POV*

"Yes, you want to," Guk-Du said, followed by a light chuckle.

We were almost at the exit when the realization hit me.

"Isn't the after-marriage ritual of throwing flowers left?" I asked, and he just looked at me, confused.

"Is there something like that also?" He interrogated with a twisted face.

"Yes, there is, and every girl who's single has to attend it," I answered with excitement.

"I don't think so." He replied with a shrug.

"But it is important to me," I answered stubbornly.

"Why?" He was again confused and asked.

"Because if the flowers fall into any unmarried girl's, it's her marriage next." Again my excitement was at peek.

"So you want to get married that soon?" He was testing my patience by asking questions again and again.

"Just put me down and let me attend the ritual." I struggled, but he firmed his grip.

"Is it a ritual?" He asked me with a bit of anguish.

"Just let me down!" I said with a high tone. We were already out of the hall.

"Okay, okay," He put me down, and I went to the place where the ritual was to happen.

The ladies and other girls were staring at me, and some even came to congratulate me. But when I saw Guk-Du come to the crowd where men were gathered, I suddenly felt flushed.

I looked towards the direction where Bong-Soon was going to stand. She didn't come yet, so I sat on a chair nearby.

And suddenly Bong-Soon came and threw the flowers quickly, not even giving time to calculate the situation.

Before I could stand, the flowers dropped into my lap. Everyone started to clap, and the girls standing in a crowd to catch the flowers were stomping their feet on the ground.

I looked here and there, confused by the sudden activity, and then Bong-Soon's eomma came and told me something, but I was too preoccupied to even listen to it.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked in that direction. Guk-Du stood there with a smile on his face.

"So when should we get married, huh?" He asked me with a teasing tone.

"Wh-what? There is no hurry." I was feeling nervous and flushed.

"Weren't you the one to rush here?" He teased me more.

"Just stop it! I'm going home." I stood up and kept the flowers on the table neatly.

"Wait! I will drop you home," he said from behind.

I kept walking ahead without looking at him, embarrassed to face him.

I quickened my pace and kept my gaze on the ground. But saw a pair of legs beside me walking at the same pace.

I lifted my gaze and looked at Guk-Du, looking back at me with a small smile. I reciprocated the action, and he held my hand. We walked towards the car in silence.

I scolded myself internally for insisting senselessly. I felt Guk-Du squeezing my hand lightly. I gave him a faded smile.

We sat in the car, and he said lightly, "There's no rush now stop, being nervous. Or else I'll call Aunty to tell her about this incident. Should I?"

I rushed to grab his hand as he took out his phone. I quickly said, "I'll stop being nervous. Don't call eomma."

"Okay. I won't." He confirmed and put his phone back. I looked at him, and he knitted his brows.

He came a bit forward and looked into my eyes before pulling me closer into a passionate kiss, which only lived a few moments. And after pulling away, he said, "I promise."

I smiled and looked forward, feeling the warmness on my cheek. We drove off to I don't know where, and the nervousness ended.

~~

After driving for half an hour, we stopped near a stream. I looked out of the window to see a clear sky above us.

"Why are we here?" I interrogated, looking in his direction.

"It is known to lighten the mood of people." He replied, and I looked outside of the car again. I heard the click of the door and then the thud sound. He must have gotten out of the car.

He came in front of the window, blocking my view, and opened the door for me to come outside. I unbuckled the seatbelt and stepped onto the grass underneath my feet.

A soft cool breeze started to flow and helped me to relax even more. We went down the slope near the stream and sat on a rock nearby. Removing our shoes, we dipped our feet into the water, and we sat there to enjoy the view.

I put my head on his shoulder, and he kept his head on the top of my head. I felt him feathering the back of my hand with his fingers lightly. I asked him, "Why do you love me?"

"Can love be explained? Can you explain your love for your mother or me?" He backfired with my question, which in some sense felt right.

"How can I?" I replied as if it was the most obvious thing and then realized that my question was wrong.

"Exactly." He said, and I felt him wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling me closer.

"Don't you eat anything?" He asked out of the blue.

"Why do you ask?" I questioned him, not understanding the purpose behind it.

"Because your waist is so thin and small." He replied, and I felt embarrassed to hear it.

"I get that a lot." I notified him, and he abruptly made me look into his eyes.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked, anger visible in his eyes. He was jealous, I'm sure.

But looking into his eyes made me fear a little. I decided not to joke at that moment.

"My relatives say that whenever I wear tight clothes. They say I look like a sick person." I told him the truth. And his eyes softened.

"Well, you do look like a sick person." He said, pulling away and sitting properly.

"Do I?" I asked, touching my cheeks and forehead to check my temperature. But it seemed normal.

"I can help you feel better." He said, looking into my eyes.

"But I'm not sick." I protested, and he hummed a little.

"We'll see that." That's all he said, and I looked towards him. He looked into my eyes, and we stared into each other's orbs.

He pulled me close by keeping his hand on the back of my head and kissed me softly, and the wetness of his lips sent a shiver down my spine.

I kissed him back with the same amount of love I was receiving. We pulled back, breathless.

After a few minutes, he said, "See, you look flustered and all red. You now look sick."

I kept my head on his chest, and he leaned back to give me more access. I could feel his chest going up and down in sync with his heartbeat.

"Let's go." He said, grabbing my hand lightly, and we stood up. Wearing our shoes, we went towards the car.

Reaching the neighbourhood area, I realized that, in my nervousness, I left the hall without saying goodbye to Bong-Soon.

I quickly took out my phone and dialed her number. There was still time in the whole programme to end, so she must be free. After a few rings, she picked up the phone.

"You remembered to call now?" She said in a high-pitched tone.

"Yes. Sorry. I was-" Before I could complete my sentence, Guk-Du took the phone from me after parking the car on the side.

"You scared her by suddenly throwing the flowers. She got nervous and left to calm down," he said politely.

I looked at him with wide eyes. He side glanced at me and again started to scold, but it was not Bong-Soon.

Hearing the words he was saying I was sure that it was not Bong-Soon. I took the phone from him and put it on my ears to hear Mr An say something and Bong-Soon stopped him.

"Brother-in-law, it's me," I said in a low voice. And he stopped abruptly.

"Sorry. Carry on you besties." He said and I heard Bong-Soon's voice saying, "You come to meet me tomorrow."

"Okay," I replied and she cut the call.

"What did he say?" Guk-Du asked and I could see he was not even trying to hide his anger.

"Nothing. But how did you two get into a fight when Bong-Soon and I were talking?" I asked and he just looked down on his lap.

"Sorry." He mumbled but the silence made it clear.

"No need to be," I said looking t his face which he held down.

"Are you angry?" He asked, nervous tipped over his words.

"No." I simply replied while looking at the messages from one of my teammates.

"I don't think so." He said and I looked in his direction.

"Why so?" I asked and he shook his head. I put my phone in the purse which I left in the car itself.

I grabbed his cheeks with my hands and looked into his eyes. I peeked on his lips and said, "See I'm not angry."

But before I could look in the front again, he pulled me into another kiss. He pulled away a few moments later and said, "Now I believe."

"Is today a kissing day or something?" I questioned in a low voice.

"Maybe. But for me it is." He replied and we drove off to my house.

We reached in a few minutes and I quickly got out of the car as I had some work to do.

"What happened?" He asked getting out of the car.

"Got some work to complete," I said and rushed to open the door.

"I'll stay with you tonight."
