Chapter 4

"I CAN'T BELIEVE HER" Ava yelled. "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE KEEPS PUSHING US AWAY" She continued. "Because she knows something we don't," Sasha said. "What?" Ava Questioned. "Right now Kyra sees us as a weakness, people who need to be protected" Sasha told her.

"But why?" Ava asked. "Because the one person she thought she could protect the most died right in front of her" Sasha said "she wasn't the only one who lost a mother" Ava replied. "You're right," Sasha said, stepping closer to ava. "But she is the only one who had to deal with it," Sasha told her, before walking away.

Kyra was Sashas best friend, and most of the time even she didn't understand her. "But at the same time it was almost as if she knew exactly what Kyra was thinking, even if she didn't know why.

Kyra ran as fast as she could but she was now being hunted. On her way out of the building she had been shot with what she only assumed was some sort of tranquilizer.

"FIND HER!" Kyra heard Cedric yell. "Dammit" Kyra whispered to herself as she leaned against a tree. Kyra put her hand up. "Ignis pila" she said and a fireball formed in her hand. She stared at it for a second. It was significantly smaller than what it should have been. She thought before throwing the fire ball as far as she could behind her.

The fire ball hit a tree catching it on fire along with other trees near it. Kyra ran again and as she did her mother's funeral popped into her head.

6 years Earlier ~

Kyra sat in a chair staring at the empty casket that was supposed to hold her mother. By the time they had found Kyra, Amber's ashes had already disappeared.

"Kyra" Nathan, her father said, approaching her. Kyra looked up at him. Her eyes were full of sadness and anger as she looked at him. "Get away from me" she told her father. "Kyra..." Nathan said lowering his eyebrows "GET AWAY FROM ME!" Kyra yelled as she stood up from her chair.

"Hey what's going on" Chris said walking over to Kyra and Nathan. "GET HIM AWAY FROM ME!" Kyra cried. "GET HIM AWAY FROM ME BEFORE I KILL HIM" she yelled. "Alright" Chris said, stepping in between Kyra and Nathan. "Go" Chris told Nathan. "She is my daughter," Nathan said. "You don't get to pick and choose when you care for her," Chris replied. "Go" he said again.

Nathan glared at Chris then looked towards Kyra and back to Chris before turning around and walking away. Chris turned to Kyra.

"Talk to me," he said. Kyra looked up at him. "I hate this," Kyra said, tearing up. Chris hugged her. "I know," he said, as Kyra began to cry. "Why does everything bad happen to me? Why did she have to die" Kyra continued to cry. "It should have been me," she added.

Present Day~

Kyra fell to her knees. Dammit what was wrong with her. She thought as she wrapped her arms around herself. "Ahhhhhh" Kyra's scream echoed through the woods. After a minute she stood up and began to walk again. She was close to a town, she could practically smell all the regular humans that were there.

Kyra continued to walk until she reached the town. Then she walked into a bar. "We're not open," said a man coming out of a back office. "Wow, are you ok?" He asked as he stared at Kyra who was dirty and had torn clothes. "Can I borrow your phone?" She asked the man. The man unlocked it and He slowly handed her his cell phone.

Kyra typed a number and called it. "Hello" a man's voice said on the other end of the line. "It's me," Kyra said. "I need you to come get me" she said hesitation clear in her voice. "Where are you?" The man on the other line asked. Kyra turned to the owner of the bar. "What town is this?" Kyra asked. "Uh Sinclairville..." the bar owner replied.

Kyra turned away from him again. "Sinclairville New York I'll be at the only bar in town," Kyra told the man on the other line. "I'll be there in 5 hours" the man said before hanging up. Kyra handed the phone back to the bar owner. "Thanks" she said. "You look like you've been through a lot" the bar owner said. "What's your name?" He asked. "Kyra" she replied. "Well Kyra I'm john" he told her. "Why don't we get you cleaned up" the man said. "There's no need for that" Kyra said. "I think there is" said John. "Come on I got a shower upstairs you can use" he told her.

5 hours quickly passed. Kyra was able to shower and John got her a nice change of clothes, in a style that Kyra didn't think fit her well. It was around 8 at night and Kyra was now waiting patiently for her ride to arrive. When the door to the bar busted open Kyra didn't even flinch. She hadn't wanted to call him but what other choice did she have. "Are you alright" he said grabbing her face and looking her over, "what happened who did this to you?" He asked as he stared at the bruising around her neck and wrists.

"I'm fine," she told him. "You didn't tell anyone, did you?" She asked. "Of course not," he replied. "I know our deal, help them but don't and act like I don't know where you are and you tell me where you are if you need help" he said. "So what happened?" Chris asked. "I now have both the council and Triad after me and I don't know what to do" Kyra told him honestly. "I don't think I can do this alone anymore," she added. "Maybe you don't have to," he replied. "Maybe it's finally time for you come home" he told her.
