Chapter 8

Chris and Vanny ran to Kyra who was unconscious on the floor. "Go get the doctor" Chris told Vanny as he picked up Kyra. Vanny nodded and ran up the stairs to find the pack doctor. Chris picked up Kyra and brought her over to the couch carefully laying her on it. Her body temperature felt even warmer than before. He thought as he saw Kyra groan in pain.

Vanny quickly came back with the doctor. "What happened," Doctor Samson asked as she rushed to Kyra's side. "She just suddenly fainted," Chris told her. "Ahhhh" Kyra yelled in pain, still unconscious as she curled her body into a ball.

Doctor Samson began to check Kyra's pulse and her temperature. "Vanny," the doctor said, turning to Vanessa. "Go prepare an ice cold bath and throw some ice in it as well if need be" doctor Samson told her. Vanny nodded and ran back upstairs.

"What's happening?" Chris asked concern written all over his face. "I believe she is going through a heat" the doctor said turning to Chris "What why all of a sudden?" He asked. "It could be multiple reasons, she came in contact with her mate who she hasn't mated with yet, her mate has died, rejection..." "She rejected her mate yesterday," Chris told the doctor. "She decided it would be better to let him go," he said. "Then that must be why when a wolf gets rejected or rejects their own mate the female goes through a heat in order to find a new mate, one not destined by the goddess one chosen," doctor Samson said as Vanny ran down the steps.

"It's ready" she told them. Chris quickly picked up Kyra and ran upstairs with her, doctor Samson following close behind. As they ran down the hall, young unmated males began to come out of the different rooms along the hallway. They could smell her heat, each of them wanted the same thing. The chance to become a powerful hybrid's mate. The chance to be by her side when she one day became an alpha. That much was obvious.

Kyra slowly opened her eyes and Chris couldn't help but notice as they flickered from her normal blue to orange and back to blue. Her eyes filled with Lust as her wolf attempted to take over in order to mate.

Chris's eyes turned orange as he stopped and looked around at all the unmated males that surrounded them. A low growl escaped his throat, forcing the unmated males to step back in fear of their alpha.

"Alpha I'm sorry but you either let her mate or get her into the bath to cool her body either way the longer we wait the more pain she will be in" doctor Samson said. Chris nodded as his eyes turned back to brown and he ran into Kyra's room and into the bathroom that was connected to it.

He quickly and carefully placed her into the ice bath. "What do we do now?" Vanny asked. "She doesn't have a mate anymore right and the ice bath won't last forever" Vanessa added. "Perhaps go to her fated mate, see if he will take her back" doctor Samson suggested. Chris suddenly pulled out his phone. "What are you doing?" Vanessa asked. "Making a call" he said as he walked out of the bathroom and made a call.

"Hello" Adam's pained voice echoed through the phone. "Kyra needs you," Chris said. "Kyra rejected me," Adam said. "She's going through a heat she needs you" Chris said. "She chose to reject me so I could be with tarry. I don't intend to waste that gift... find someone else to help her" Adam said before hanging up the phone.

"DAMMIT!" Chris yelled as he punched the wall. "She'll be fine as long as we can keep her temperature down until her heat passes," doctor Samson said walking out of the bathroom. "What about my brother?" Vanny said. "He's unmated and only a few years older, I doubt he has nothing to gain by mating with her" Vanny said. Chris hesitated for a minute before turning and looking at Kyra who was still unconscious in the bathtub.

"I don't know," Chris said as he turned away from the door. "Like I said," doctor Samson said. "It's either we allow her to mate or she stays in an ice bath until the heat subsides" doctor Samson told Chris honestly. "Call him," Chris said. "She'll decide if she's able once he gets here," he said. "And tell him he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. I'm not going to force them to mate just to end her pain quicker" he added.

Vanny nodded as she pulled out her phone. She pulled up her brother's contact and clicked on it to call it as and walked into the hall pitting the phone to her ear. "What's up Vanny" her brother said, answering the phone. "Where are you" Vanessa asked simply. "Why?" He asked. "I have a... friend... who is going through a heat and she needs someone to help her through it... nicely" Vanny explained. "So you chose me?" He Questioned. "Who better than the resident player right?" She asked him.

"I can be there in 20" he said before hanging up the phone. Vanny put her phone back in her pocket then leaned against the wall letting out a deep breath.

20 minutes passed by slowly, Kyra's temperature didn't go down at all even when they added more ice to the bath. Then Vanny's brother finally arrived. "What took you so long ryan?" Vanny asked in a whisper yell. "I said 20 minutes and I got here in 20 minutes" he said. "Where is she?" He asked. "In the room" she told him. "Hello Alpha" Ryan said to Chris as he entered the room. "Ryan" Chris said with a nod. Ryan looked in the bathroom at Kyra then turned to Vanessa.

"You didn't tell me the girl was Kyra Lewis," Ryan said to his sister.
