Chapter 14

A week passed since Kyra woke up.

"How long am I going to feel like this?" Kyra asked her uncle whom she hadn't seen in years. "Until we can get out all of the mercury" Jackson told her. "And when will that be?" Kyra asked. "I don't know," Jackson said honestly. "I can't wait any longer," Kyra said slowly, standing up. "Kyra, you should rest," Sasha said. "I'm tired of resting," Kyra said honestly.

"I need to move... to shift," she said. "As long as the mercury is in your body you are as weak as a human" Mia told her Kyra's eyes began to glow green as the lights began to flicker. "DAMMIT" Kyra yelled and the lights blew causing glass to fly everywhere.

"I can't take this," Kyra said as she let out a deep breath. "How do I get it out of my system?" Kyra asked Mia.

Mia let out a deep breath filled with slight annoyance. "You heal," Mia said. "A majority of the mercury is already out of your system so I estimate about a month before you are able to shift again" Mia said. "A month..." Kyra said to herself. Mia put her hand on Kyra's shoulder.

"Think of this time as a vacation," Mia said. "No magic, no shifting, no one trying to kill you and no one you need to kill," Mia said. "Go do something fun," she added. "I don't think I know how," Kyra said. "I think I can help with that," Ryan said with a smile.

Before Kyra knew it she was standing in front of the entrance of the county fair with Ryan, Sasha, Vanessa, Ava and Ethan. "I don't know about this," Kyra said as she stared at the ticket booth just behind the entrance. "What are you scared?" Ava asked tauntingly.

"Not even possible," Kyra retorted. "Let's get this over with" she added before walking up to the ticket booth and pulling out money. She quickly bought the tickets and everyone followed her inside.

"So what should we do first?" Kyra asked simply. "Oh let's ride the teacups better to get all the spinning rides out of the way before we eat" Ava said "I agree" Ethan said. "Do you ever not agree with ava?" Sasha asked.

"Yeah," Ethan said. "Alright whatever let's do that" Kyra said. "Wait" Ryan said, grabbing Kyra's hand as she tried to walk ahead. "Are you sure rides like that won't be too much?" Ryan asked. "She's as weak as a human right now but she's not human" Vanessa said. "Exactly," Kyra said, taking her arm. "And even if I was, I'd still be able to handle it," Kyra said.

"Alright come on" Kyra said, grabbing Ryan's hand and dragging him along. "I guess we're following them," Vanessa said as the group began to follow Kyra and ryan.

"OK I didn't think I'd want to puke after" Kyra said as they got off the ride "yeah it has a habit of doing that" vanny said following close behind her.

"Why don't we play some games," Ava suggested. "Oh let's do the ring toss first" Sasha said before running to the ring toss booth. "1 dollar for 3 rings and 5 dollars for 10 rings" the man said as they approached the booth.

Sasha placed a 5 on the booth. "10 rings please" Sasha said, and then placed 10 rings on the booth "good luck" said the man as he took a step back. Sasha picked up the rings then one by one began to throw them.

As she threw the first ring it hit a bottle and bounced. "Come on Sasha you got this" Kyra cheered on her friend. As she threw the second one it landed on a bottle. The third and fourth ones missed but the 5th and 6th made it. "Go Sasha!" Ava yelled. As Sasha threw the 7th, and missed.

The last 3 missed and the man handed Sasha a small teddy bear. "Good job" he said with a classic customer service smile.

"Alright my turn" Kyra said as she placed another 5 on the booth. "How much do you want to bet I get more than Sash?" Kyra said. "Oh it's on," Sasha said.

The man placed 10 rings on the booth then took the 5 and backed up a few steps. The first ring Kyra threw landed on a bottle, same with the second and third. The 4th and fifth missed but the last 5 landed on 5 different bottles.

"I win," Kyra said with a smug smile as the man handed her a large stuffed elephant. "Who wants to play another game?" Kyra asked.

The night went by quickly as the group continued to play games, and ride the rides. "Alright I'm exhausted" Kyra said as they walked out to the parking lot. "But you had fun right?" Vanny asked curiously. "Yeah actually" Kyra replied. "I think it's the most... fun... I had in a really long time" Kyra said.

"Not gonna lie it was kinda weird" she admitted. "Kyra!" A familiar voice said in front of them. "Adam" Kyra said as she stared at him and Terry. "Why haven't you accepted the rejection?" Kyra asked. Terry turned to Adam. "Do it," Terry said. "You told me you'd do it when you saw her again so do it" Terry said.

Adam looked at Kyra who just stared at him. "Kyra Lewis, I accept your rejection," Adam said. Kyra closed her eyes for a moment as she finally felt the bond between them break.

Kyra turned to Ryan and without any hesitation grabbed the back of his head and pulled him down to her level before kissing him. "Oh my god" vanny said in shock. "I KNEW IT!" Ava and Ethan yelled at the same time.

"I think it's best we all go," Sasha said. As she began to push the twins towards the car. Terry pulled Adam away in the opposite direction, as Kyra released Ryan from the kiss. "If you want to be with me this is your chance" Kyra told him. "Are you in or out?" she added as she stared into his eyes.
