Jax and Mia knew they couldn't stay in one place for long. They had to keep moving, stay hidden, and figure out their next move. They were wanted fugitives now, and the government would stop at nothing to bring them to justice.
As they caught their breath and tried to gather their thoughts, Jax and Mia heard the distant sound of a helicopter. They knew it was only a matter of time before the government caught up to them.
"We have to find somewhere to lay low," Jax said, looking around at their surroundings.
Mia nodded in agreement. "But where? We can't exactly check into a hotel or something."
Jax thought for a moment before an idea struck him. "I have a friend who lives out in the countryside, in a small cabin. He owes me a favor. Maybe we can stay there for a while."
Mia nodded, and they set off toward the cabin. It was a long journey, and they had to be careful not to draw any attention to themselves. They walked mostly at night, sleeping during the day in hidden spots.
After a few days of walking, they finally reached the cabin. It was small and rustic, but it would provide them with shelter and safety for a while.
Jax knocked on the door, and after a few moments, it opened to reveal a grizzled man with a thick beard and a shotgun in his hand.
"Jax?" the man said, looking surprised to see him. "What are you doing here?"
"I need your help, Eli," Jax said, stepping forward. "Can we come in?"
Eli hesitated for a moment before nodding and stepping aside to let them in. Jax and Mia entered the cabin, relieved to be out of the open and away from prying eyes.
They spent the next few days holed up in the cabin, planning their next move and waiting for the heat to die down. They were safe for now, but they knew they couldn't stay there forever.
As they sat around the small table, Jax pulled out his laptop and opened up the photos he had taken at the government facility. They studied them carefully, trying to piece together what they could.
"This portal," Mia said, pointing to the massive object in the center of the room. "What do you think it was for?"
Jax shrugged. "I don't know. But it can't be good. The government was experimenting with something dangerous, and I don't think they're done with it yet."
Mia nodded in agreement. "We have to find out more. Maybe there are others out there who know something. Someone who can help us."
Jax agreed. "But who can we trust?"
As they pondered their next move, Jax and Mia knew that they were in for a long and dangerous road ahead. But they were rebels, and they wouldn't rest until they had uncovered the truth and fought for what they believed in.
