Oh. That doesn't sound evil," Tobias says. "Is getting food part of any of your schemes?"
The two of you wander through the fair, and you catch Tobias up on what happened at the meeting on Thursday—and particularly what you think of Mr. Clarence and his development plans.
"I mean, I guess I don't like the sound of this big company moving in," he says as you sit on the edge of the fountain, eating curry and rice from a food stand. "But he's just a business guy. It's not like he's gonna take over the town, or like…poison all the lemonade or something."
Tobias makes a noise of agreement under his breath.
"Well. I guess it's not that far off."
Tobias is silent for a while as he scoops a chunk of cauliflower out of his food carton. A moment later, however, he starts to look thoughtful as he licks his fork clean.
"To be honest, I don't even know anything about the developments except what my parents have been saying. For all I know, it might make this town actually decent to live in. I mean, obviously this is nice—"
He waves his hands at the bright, sunny park.
"But, trust me, there's nothing to do once you've been here long enough. Nothing's changed for like, fifty years, except that all the cool stuff got shut down."
