Chapter Five: The Innocent Veteran

*My work phone started to call* It's Michaelson. What's going on? I asked. There's another body. He just called about it; he killd a guy at 94 Goldenrod Ave. Franklin Square NY. Said my captain. Copy that sir, I'll be right there. I said and hung up.

I went upstairs and changed to my uniform. I kissed them and said goodbye. The kids started to cry, and I hate it. My husband just looks at me with a depressed look. "I'm sorry, I have to do this. It's important" I said and left to my car.

When I got there, they were already taking pictures and gathering evidences, so I walked to them and asked who the victim was. "This is Edward Bishop, he is 47 years old. He is a veteran and a former Marine. He is seen as a war hero. Seems like William is changing up things." the forensic girl said. I nodded to her and I thought, William is not changing things up. He is trying to cause a distraction, throwing us off his trails.

I went to the body to inspect it closer. All his finger nails was missing, some teeths were missing, he had cuts all over his body, his fingers and hands were broken. He was beaten in the face so badly his nose is broken. It seems like he got tortured to death. He has signs of struggles on his wrist after being tied up which tells me he was awake during most or some of it. He had alot of blood on his stomach so I wiped it away. It was something carved in his stomach, it was a message "Just like what you would do to all your victims, where do you think he got his info from? Torture, hah. KARMA" but who was the message for? The carving matches something like a butterknife. Why would he kill him, and Matter? They have nothing to do with the other killings.

I went back to the precinct and cheked Edward Bishops file. He had a wife named Elenore Carlson, and had no kids. He was killed a few miles away form his house. So I went to knock on the door, and his wife Elenore opened the door. Hello officer, is there anything I can help you with? She asked. Are you Elenore Carlson, the wife of Edward Bishop? I asked. Yes that is me, what's going on, is my husband okay? She asked. I'm sorry to say this but he died, can I come in and talk to you? I asked. Yes sure, just come in. She said and showed me to the couch. Before I start with the questioning, I wanted you to know that you don't have to answer all the questions, you can take a break or I can leave at any time you want. I said. Okay, do you want coffee or something before we start? She asked. No, I'm good thanks. I said. Okay, just let me know if you need anything. She said. Do you know if anyone wanted to hurt your husband? I asked. No, I don't. He is a good guy. He was gone a lot, but his friends, he would call them his brothers. They might know more things then what I do. They were with him out there. She said. I don't think that has anything to do with why he got killed, but do you mind telling me where I can find them? I asked. You can find them at Fort Hamilton Army base. She said. Thank you for your time, here is my card if you come up with anything. And if you have any questions feel free to ask. I said and left out.

I went to my car and started to drive to the military base, I stopped at som burger shop because I was hungry, and I called my husband to say that I wouldn't make it to dinnner tonight. When I got to the base, I showed them my ID, my badge, my whole name, what I was doing there and who I was looking for. I just said that I was looking for Edward Bishop's gruop. He looked at me and gave my stuff back and he let me pass. "Park your car to the left, then you go in the building and take the 4th door to the left, then you're at the courtyard. Then you look for the Marine's tent" he said. When I found them, I questioned thm one by one. However there was not any new information than "He is a good Marine" "He deseved the medal" "He always do what he gets told" "He never disobeyed any order" "He is a good guy, I can't think about anyone that wants to hurt him". However there was this one guy, he said "There is this one guy who hates him, because he has a wife and a lot of money, but he doesn't take to well care of his wife, but I think it's just rumours".

I drove home and I warmed up some leftovers and watched some tv. Next thing I know, my kids are jumping on me, and I see that I have a missed call on my work phone.
