On the verge of losing it

I immediately got worried. I followed her line of sight and saw her staring at... Genevieve Chidi?

I still didn't understand what was going on but I rushed towards Alya.

"Alya?!" I called but she didn't say a word. She just stood transfixed. I turned and saw Genevieve also the same way.

"Alya?" I called louder this time. She still didn't move. Some people were already giving us their attention.

I tapped her arm and she jerked away from me as if my touch had burned her.

I stared at her confused and her expression matched mine.

"I have been calling your name for a while now. Are you alright?" I asked but didn't get an answer.

"Can we talk somewhere?" I asked her and she managed to nod.

We started walking away but I noticed her glancing back every once in a while. I turned around and saw Genevieve still staring at her.

I was definitely missing something there.

When we got to a deserted part of the school, we stopped. She leaned on a wall and stared into space.
