Assigned As Draco's Personal Maid II

Reina proceeded toward the East wing further into an eerie passageway, that felt darker and colder than the other areas in the castle, even though there were torches burning lustrously on the wall.

Reina finally halted in front of towering double doors, engraved with Gothic cravings on every inch of the door, leaving a guttural sense on it. The room was almost at the end of the eerie hallway, which was quite odd for Rama.

"This is the King's chambers, you can go in, I doubt he's inside or wait, I'll knock instead." Reina said in a slightly nervous tone and she gulped softly before hovering her clenched fist in front of the door to knock.

Rama felt her heart pace elevate as Reina knocked on the door which echoed in the empty hallway.

No reply came from within and Reina's shoulders dropped in relief.

"I think it's best if you come with me and do some menial work for the meantime before the King assigns a task to you." Reina said and they veered around to go back from the path they came from.

"I hope he doesn't." Rama muttered to herself as she followed behind Reina who lead her outside.

Rama's gaze narrowed to the clothes piled up in a large bowl of water seated in front of a wired rope on the floor.

"You want me to wash those?" Rama asked in a tone of disbelief and her dark thick lashes fluttered with lines forming on her forehead as a slight frown etched on her face.

"Of course. You might have been a queen before in your kingdom but now you're a maid in voltaire kingdom ruled by the night creatures and the sooner you accept it, the easier it becomes." Reina said.

The words made her jaws clench, although it was true but it seemed the truth was more bitter than she could swallow. She couldn't accept it, so she would evade it through death.

"I won't be here for long anyway." Rama muttered to herself.

"That is what I told myself, but I've been here for five years and maybe, more to come." Reina said with a sad chuckle as she tucked a stray strand of red hair behind her ear.

"Go on and start washing, it's not so hard to do. Just make a lather and scrub the clothes till it's clean." Reina said nonchalantly as she explained to her how to wash.

"What? You're don't expect me to do this, do you? Besides I'm not assigned to wash, I'm assigned as Draco's personal maid." Rama said immediately and Reina's brows creased hard.

"Don't ever let anyone hear you calling the King by his name, you'll get punished and secondly, you're assigned to menial tasks too so do it and stop whining or I'll report you to Madam Eleanor and oh, she's not very gentle with her punishments." Reina warned with a stronger accent.

"The others are occupied and you can't laze around when the King hasn't assigned any work to you yet. If Madam Eleanor catches you lazing around, you'll get a more heftier task to carry out, so if I were you, i'd stop complaining about my plight and start washing. People have it worse than us." Reina added in with slight irritation coating her voice.

"What could be worse than being a servant with our lives at the mercy of the night creatures?" Rama said with a sharp tone as she peered her jade eyes into her forest green ones.

"Captured by sex traffickers into prostitution or being homeless or critically sick or disabled. They are so many worse plights than ours and to be honest, if you want to survive in the abode of the night creatures, your brain is the only way to survive. And also your beauty." Reina remarked with a slightly upturned nose raised high.

Rama's brows lifted up slightly as she processed what she said. Rama was in no way naive, and she instantly realized what Reina meant by her statement which she so shamelessly spouted out. The thought of bedding a night creature in return for favour made her stomach churn as she felt nausea.

"Bedding a night creature for favor is completely ludicrous. They are man's greatest adversary, they've been nothing but cruel and in all ways hideous monsters." Rama stated as her face twisted with a frown on it.

"We do what we have to do to survive, and besides, we're the lucky ones if the night creatures choose to bed us. I mean, they only bed female vampires because of their inhumane looks so unless you are gorgeous in an exotic way, they won't bat an eyelid at you, but lucky you Rama, you're good enough to turn their heads." Reina said with a puckish grin as she winked at her mischievously.

Rama was indeed a beauty, with skin gleaming like the golden sun, black hair darker than ebony reaching her waist length, jade eyes and the curves of an hourglass shape, her looks were enough to steal a night creature's attention.

"I would rather sell my soul to the devil than let one of those demons in human form lay their blood soaked hands on me. Do you realise what you're saying Reina? They are the monsters liable for the ruination of your kingdom." Rama emancipated on every word rolling off her lips firmly, as she tried to talk sense into the seemingly blockhead in front of her or rather, she had just accepted her new life without a fight.

"I loathed them and feared them, I still do but there's nothing we can do about how life turned against us, so we just choose the easier path and to be honest, it's not the worst thing that could possibly happen to us, in time you'll understand and learn to adjust." Reina said with a gentle voice.

"Don't expect that to happen, I'll never adjust." Rama said bitterly between gritted teeth.

"Fine then, I'm off to continue my work. See you later." Reina said and without waiting for a reply veered around as she retreated from her sight. Her blood red long hair swayed left and right behind her. With hips like hers, she was sure to turn a night creature's head. No doubt, Reina was a beaut but the thought of her bedding a night creature made her want to retch up.

Reina faded from her sight and she tilted her head up to gaze at the sun, it had been only a few days since she last caught sight of the sun but it felt like long years.

The sun basked its warmth on her and she closed her eyes for a split second before opening them to face her reality.

Her shoulders dropped with an exasperated sigh as her eyes narrowed to the pile of clothes. With rushed movements, she formed a thick soapy lather in the water and resorted to washing.

She was still worried about Malika and the feeding of wolves task she was assigned to. She couldn't comprehend why someone with good brains would keep wolves as pets, but when she pressed her thoughts on it, it seemed logical that beings like the night creatures would. After all, he was the master of the black dragon, a lethal beast.

She pushed her sleeves up till it reached her elbows and tied her hair in a bun. She had never visualized herself doing chores in her life, but who knew what the future had planned out for her.

She scrubbed the clothes hard one by one till they were clean, she didn't want to have to do it again. Her palms burned as she scrubbed the pile of clothes and hanged them on the wired rope for them to dry.

Soon, blisters formed on her delicate palms which made her hiss in pain as she scrubbed.

"It's not so hard, she said." She murmured bitterly as she rolled her eyes in anger. Exasperated sighs escaped her lips as she scrubbed.

Unexpectedly, she felt a gust of eerie wind brushed past her and she felt her spine tingle unnervingly. The dreary familiar sense she got when she felt Draco's eyes on her made her freeze for a moment.

She whipped her head upward to catch sight of a pair of dark crimson blood eyes staring down at her from the balcony. Her gaze locked with Draco's dreadful ones and she felt her body tremble subconsciously.

With frantic movements, she quickly averted her gaze from his and she felt her heart pounding hard against her ribcage throb in her ears. She gulped softly as she clenched her fists tightly in a resolve to strengthen her composure.

She hated the way he made her feel just by staring into his eyes sufficed with darkness residing inside it, she could feel his inauspicious menacing aura from a mile away as though danger lurked in the vicinity around him.

Her jaws ticked knowing she would be stuck with seeing his crimson eyes that haunted her till she finally had a chance to evade it, but she hadn't found the right time yet and she still had to coax Malika into agreeing to it as she couldn't leave her alone in the gruesome place filled with night creatures.

She gradually tilted her head up to steal a glance at the balcony, but he had disappeared and the air around suddenly felt lighter unlike the heavy darkness she felt when he was standing at the balcony.

She strengthened her resolve to not be afraid of him no matter what. Creatures like him fed on fear and pain and she wouldn't give him the sadistic pleasure of having either from her.
