9. The visit

"Hyung...", Jiwoo heard a small voice beside him.

"Eunwoo? Thank goodness you're awake! You slept like some sleeping beauty", said the older sibling.

"Haha... Oh well... How are you?", Eunwoo asked hesitantly.

"I should be asking you. I'm sorry Eunwoo... Your hyung wasn't strong enough to protect you", regret was swimming in Jiwoo's voice.

"Hey, it's not your fault. At least we're alive. But I think you were very cool when you fought Amyeong!" Jiwoo knew that the younger was trying to lighten the mood and make him feel less remorseful.

"You didn't answer my question though", Eunwoo asked again even though he already knew the answer. But this was the only way he could keep his mind off the pain he was feeling in his lower body.

"They say I won't be able to use my awakened abilities anymore and my arms won't work like they used to..."

"Hyung, I know it might sound ridiculous but don't lose hope just yet. Everything will be fine in the end. If it's not fine then it's not the end."

"Where did you learn to talk like that? You sounded like a man in his late 20s", Jiwoo joked. "But... They said that it's not possible to heal your legs..."

Eunwoo's heart broke hearing that but he didn't let that display on his face. He knew Jiwoo will be alright in a couple of days but there was no hope for him. His awakened life ended even before it began. At the most, he guessed that Wooin's master would heal him.

"I'll be fine. Maybe awakened life wasn't something for me. Might as well continue my dream of composing music?", he tried to sound as optimistic as he could because he had no regrets.

Even if he was to remain a cripple in this life at least he would have a loving family and supportive friends. In his previous life, his parents disowned him because he wanted to pursue a career in MMA instead of being a pilot like his older brother.

After chatting with Jiwoo for about an hour Eunwoo fell asleep again making Jiwoo chuckle. Soon it was evening. The older twin's body quivered as it became too much to bare the pain.

"Jiwoo!"

The door opened and Jisuk, Subin, and Wooin entered greeting Jiwoo with large smiles. They hid their worries behind a smile.

"Dude what happened?!", asked Jisuk. "I got so many calls asking if you were with me that it freaked me out. You always get into trouble, haha. Oh, Eunwoo is here as well? Look at him, he's still fast asleep."

Jiwoo answers while giving them an uneasy smile, "Yeah... It's kind of funny. I might have to tell the school that I got into another car accident. Eunwoo was awake for like an hour before he fell asleep again."

Jisuk and Subin giggled before noticing that Jiwoo abruptly went quiet. They asked, "What's wrong?" "Does it hurt?"

"umm... They say I won't be able to use my awakened power anymore."

"What?!"

"I was told that even after I recover not only will I lose my awakened power but my arms wouldn't function properly. They said Eunwoo won't be able to walk again."

"Eunwoo is that badly hurt as well? Well, at least you're alive. That's what matters." Said, Subin.

Jisuk joined saying, "Consider yourself lucky for ending up with just that. I heard those who kidnapped you guys were even stronger than the Klein brothers."

"He's right a lot of awakened ones end up dying in most cases."

"Is that so?" Jiwoo said glimpsing up at them.

Jisuk ruffled the boy's hair affectionately. "Yep! You just focus on recovery! We should get going now. Tell Eunwoo that we came by to visit."

Saying that the three youngsters left the room and once outside their expression had nothing but rage. They were angry at the person who had hurt their friend. Meanwhile, the smile on Jiwoo's face vanished as soon as his friends left because he no longer needed to pretend to be alright.
