WIFE MATERIAL

John walked upstairs ignoring all the ladies making advances at him, he walked without a stop or pause until he arrived at the room that was always occupied by Julie. "I am here again." He sighed heavily and opened the door, it was empty.

He shut the door and looked around, every single part of the room reminded him of Julie, how had put her in seventy positions in seventy minutes in every corner of the room. "Where is she?" He opened the wardrobe and it was empty too. "Did she move out?" He asked himself and his attention was diverted when Monica walked in.

With a confused look on her face, Monica moved closer to him and asked. "How can I help you?"

"I am so sorry for walking in here without permission but about two to three days ago, a lady was staying here."

Monica folded her arms, knowing already who John was. The guy that Julie slept with every day for two weeks without collecting a penny. "Yes, so what is the problem?"

"Where is she at the moment?"

"What business do you have with that?" She asked again and loosened her arms. "Is she owing you? Or are you owing her for the two weeks fun you had?"

"Wait! You know me?"

"Obviously." Monica folded her arms again. "And I didn't enjoy seeing your face around, not even now."

"Look." John started off stretching out his arms in a demonstrative manner. "All that happened between Julie and I then, happened because she wanted it. I tried to pay her every morning but she kept on saying taking the money would make her a real bitch."

"Julie said that?"

"You can ask her." He said boldly, making use of his arms again.

"So what are you here for again? A lot of girls are downstairs for you."

"Look." He said firmly and repositioned himself. "I didn't come any of those girls downstairs, I came here for only Julie."

"I'm sorry but I am not telling you anything about her."

"Why?" John asked with some unexplainable sort of pain in his voice. "You hate me that bad?"

"I don't hate you!" Monica retorted and cleared her throat. "Julie is in the most difficult phase of life as we speak."

"Most difficult phase of life?" He asked again.

"You know how the breaking and hurting it is to try to fix something that has already been damaged from the start?" she didn't wait for his reply. "Julie is starting a new life, a good real world she deserves, though, it might be a little lonely now, but that is the best for her."

"And do you think I will hinder that new life of hers she is trying to live?" John asked with a confused look.

"What do you think? Will your presence help heal her wound?"

That question made John speechless, he quickly searched his heart, will his presence and really be of help to her so-called healing process? If he was lying to everyone, he wasn't going to lie to himself. The only reason he was there, was for pleasure. He gently walked towards the door but another statement held him back.

"Please, don't come back here anymore," Monica said with her back at him.

He stared at her for a moment or two before walking out of Spotlight and joining Neo in the car.

"What happened? You aren't spending the night there?" Neo asked as soon as his boss occupied the sit close to him.

"The girl isn't there anymore." He exhaled deeply as he rested his head comfortably.

"Which girl? The one you were with for two weeks?" Neo asked again.

"Her name is Julie, you can call her that."

"So, you chose not to be with anyone except her?"

He sat up and faced his driver. "I was with Diva, there was a bit pleasure but not up to what I felt with Julie."

"I think you are just exaggerating, you just say that because you don't like Diva, I think you like the Julie girl."

John stared at him with no words for a while then asked, "What were you always doing in the car when I was there?" He pointed to Spotlight's direction.

"I listen to good music and think of my life."

"All through the night?"

"I do turn it off sometimes." He ignited the car. "Where do I take you too sir?"

"Take me back home, I need to rest, I just hope that no one disturbs me."

Neo started driving and cleared his throat. "That Diva lady, isn't a wife material?"

"Why do you say so?" John asked

"Nothing actually, just guessing by her actions lately." Neo lied.

"Do you have a girl?"

Neo looked at him briefly and focused on the steering, he wasn't sure of what to say, he had a woman in his life but how could he tell him the woman is his mom? He tapped his fingers on the steering anxiously. "I do have one, but we keep having issues."

"What sort of issues?" John asked again and pulled out the anxiety pills from his hoodie's front pocket, exactly the type his mom also uses.

"You taking pills again? I thought you said you feeling better now." Neo intentionally changed the topic.

"Apparently, I don't feel okay anymore." He swallowed the pills without water.

"When did it start again?"

"I don't know, I just don't feel okay." He wind down the window and put his head out, the soft breeze hit every part of his face, inhaling the fresh air and made him feel better. He wanted to disappear so bad, but he was scared at the same time, that what happened ten years ago might happen again. What if something bad happened to some people because he disappeared? Neo would be the first one to be affected, his mom won't mind having thousands of head rolling on the floor if he went missing, and then cover it up like it wasn't really a big deal when she later found him. "Julie, where are you?" He asked in his mind and the chilly wind hit his eyes once again.
