AN IDEA

Lydia clapped her hands excitedly and said. "This is the coolest thing this company has ever invented so far." she bent over and touched the device. "I can't wait to launch this."

"Stop talking as if it's your father's company young lady." Neo snapped. "I can't wait to launch this." He mimiced her in a sarcastic manner.

Lydia stood and sneered at him. "I'm in a good mood today, I won't give replies to your nonsense."

"Have it." John said calmly to her ignoring the drama before him. "Let's try my phone and see how it works."

"Okay." she collected the cell phone and just as she was about to do as she was told, the door kicked open, in a very rude way.

"What is going on here?" Mirabella asked looking at them scornfully.

Lydia gasped on sight of her and immediately dropped the phone on the table. "Good day ma'am." Her voice was trembling.

"The fact that you left your desk already ruined my day young lady." She moved closer to Lydia. "There is nothing good about the day."

"I'm so sorry ma'am. I only came in here to pass an important information to him."

"Important information you say? Important

Information took you twenty minutes?" Mirabella scoffed. "I employed you as a secretary not a personal important or so."

"I'm so sorry ma'am."

"You are actually not at fault, the one that was supposed to lead you has done it wrong by giving preference to a domestic worker." she looked at her son scornfully.

"How many times do I have to tell you that Neo is more than a domestic worker, mom? He is now family."

"Family with who?" Mirabella giggled.

Neo was a bit embarrassed, he put his head down.

"I think I will be on my way-" Lydia was interrupted.

"I hope you aren't thinking of some means to escape punishment for leaving your desk?"

She shook her head. "Maybe or maybe not." she said beneath her breath, not sure if anyone heard her.

"Mom, please come here." John said with his arms opened, there was a wide smile on his face.

She didn't want to, but, her son has never willingly offered her a hug publicly after that day ten years ago. As she walked gently to him, her legs were sore and heavy. Being in her son's arms reminded her of Neo, not her deceased husband. Even when her eyes came in contact with Neo's, she couldn't deny herself the fact of how much she missed him.

"Mom, we are going to be rich." John whispered in her ears.

"We already are." She said coldly and released herself from his embrace. "Give me the details, I know the hug has a lot to do, your heart was beating so fast." Her eyes looked straight into her son's.

"We are in trouble, deep one." John murmured.

Mirabella looked around the office, then her son. "Really?"

"It's fine mom, they are aware of it already."

"Since when did you discuss our troubles with workers John?"

"Look mom, I didn't figure this project alone. Lydia suggested that I made it foldable, Neo here initiated the idea that I make this device height adjustable." He sighed. "I'm a car without wheels if these people aren't here, I can't move without them.

"There are several ways to move a car that has no wheels." She snapped and sat on one of the chairs closer to her, with dignity she placed her clutch bag on the table. "I'm all ears."

John moved closer to her. "My uncle is at it again."

"Is he holding meetings on how to overthrow me again?"

"He wants to be an investor." Neo answered instead.

Mirabella banged the table and stood. "Are you sure of what you are saying? Be an investor in my company?" she scoffed. "That's so hilarious."

"We need to stop him." Lydia added.

"There is no need to stop him, John is not accepting his proposal."

"We all know that is not possible." Neo opposed immediately. "On what grounds? Have you forgotten the other investors and share holders? The project is ready, all we need now is money for the packaging and advert-"

"What's your position in this company?" She flipped her hair and sat. "I seem to keep forgetting."

"Mom, Neo is my driver."

"Wow! Then I'm surprised he always has so much to say about the company."

"But ma, Neo is saying the right thing. A lot of investors have invested and patiently waited for the project and their money." Lydia tried to convince her.

"I should have employed you as the managing director." Mirabella said with an evil smile.

"I'm sorry ma." She murmured dejectedly.

"These people keep insulting me, don't I have a say anymore? In my own company?" Her tone was sounding offended.

"We all need to work together. We need to put our heads together, we can't allow my uncle be an investor in this project, he is going to kick us out in no time."

"Does anyone has an idea on how to do that?" She faces her son, pretending not to be asking Neo and Lydia for the help as well.

"I have an idea ma'am." Lydia said excitedly and a bit loud, but the stare on Mirabella's face made her compose herself again.

Richard loosened his tye as he went through the document for the third time. "These people are really doing their best to make sure I never own more than I currently own in this company."

"I wasn't expecting anything less, but how do they plan on surviving without your money." A classy looking woman in her mid forties sipped the tea and sighed as she dropped the mug. "Maybe they have an alternative."

"Alternative?" He chuckled. "I don't think so, this is the biggest project this company has ever worked on so far, thus, it will consume money, a lot of it, and the worst part is we are out of investors."

"Maybe you should try talking to John, tell him you only want to help and mean no harm." The woman bent her lips in smile. "Who knows? he might listen to you and perhaps believe you. It's so hard to see how you both turn out to be enemies."

"Stop saying nonsense Felicia, we both know he doesn't even want to see me."
