Light blue erupted from the horizon as it began to swallow the purple glowing in the eerie sky. The stars moved further away, hiding behind the large clouds.
"Today will be an important day." Jameson's eyes opened up with a slight spasm, as he rubbed them slowly with the backs of his fat hands. "I have a few things to do. Let's see." He slept on a large mattress, with a blue bedsheet layered on top. Beside him, on the tan carpeted ground, a leather, black notebook was opened up, revealing a few filled pages. "The first thing that needs to be done is acquiring a few weapons. Sadly, acquiring cultivation manuals is near impossible." With the Qua sect being the new overlord of Earth, most things in relation to cultivation were completely restricted, unless one joined the sect.
Jameson pushed his palm against the fluffy mattress, getting up onto his wobbly legs. He made his way towards a washroom near his large room. His hands were heavily placed on the counter, as he leaned his large body over the sink. Spinning the tap, water gushed out like a waterfall, filling the sink only for a second, before being drained into a black hole.
He brushed his teeth harshly, causing the gums on his teeth to seep with red. His face was scrubbed like a dish with stains. Finishing up in the washroom, he walked down the steps of his mid sized home, picking up keys sitting on a round side table stained brown.
His feet led him out of the door; his eyes eating up the rays that shot from a large yellow ball in the sky.
"Let me call a cab." Despite the fact a new power took over the world, and the fact, things did become physically different in the world in terms of brightness and colour, not much else really changed.
There wasn't creatures floating in the sky, people flying about, magic being used everywhere, really, it wasn't that different. The world just last it's greyness and revealed its stunning colours once again.
While waiting for his cab, Jameson began to surf the web on his phone. "The best place for weapons is called… 'SyGuild'?" Swiping up, he began to read a little more into the company. "A company created before the Qua sect's infiltration. It used to create custom weapons for collectors, but now is the biggest distributer for weapons. It has also made its own path into the other side." Jameson was shocked to say the least. Getting to the other side wasn't as simple as it sounded. One did not only need a soul coin. Rather, knowing the right people was a must. Luckily, the person who stole his wife was a big shot in the Qua sect. "Who knew my ex-wife would be the reason I am leaving this world, plus she is also the one that can help me." Air rushed from his mouth as his chin tilted up. His eyes squinted under the strong light.
While in his daze, a yellow cab pulled up beside hi,. The window slid down and a man leaned over from his seat. "Are you Jameson?"
Looking down, Jameson nodded his head. "That's me."
"Alright, get in." Pulling the door open, Jameson sat in the back of the car. "So, it seems you are heading to SyGuilds smithery? Thinking of joining the sect?"
"Something like that." Jameson kept his answer simple, not wanting to give away too much. Although aiming to leave to the other side was not bad or looked down upon, it will still something that could attract attention. Sometimes, not the good kind. After all, who wouldn't want a soul coin?
"Good luck on that sir. The sect is extremely strict. I don't think anyone has actually passed there selection since they got here. Only through marriage and alike are people able to enter." The cab driver started the car and began to drive, speaking his mind away. "What a place though, right? Back when I was still a kid, there not such thing as cultivation. There was no such things as sects, aside from religious ones."
"You're right about that. It was more simple back then." Heaving a sigh, Jameson joined in on the topic. "But, there are now more opportunities. Atleast, less people starve now."
"I don't know about that sir. Many people make promises, who would really follow up on their side? Whether its this sect or the government before, not much would change. Atleast thats what I think." The driver laughed bitterly while driving. "Well, what do I know? My family left me for some Qua trainee. Everything was taken, and here I am driving a cab around a city. Did you know, I was an engineer before the Qua sect came?"
Hearing his words, a sting was felt in Jameson's hear. 'Another abandoned.' He shook his head and patted the man's shoulders. "You're not alone. Many people lost their families. Many were displaced. It may look like sunshine and happiness to the people who adapted, but the ones who weren't given the chance, it's nothing less then Hell."
"You can say that again." The drive continued with the topic of Qua sect being the most spoken. Jameson mostly listened since he actually didn't know much about the sect. For the last year, he had sunk in alcohol and depression. Not knowing what to do. It was only now that he was finally trying to make some moves. Yet, his heart continued to break each day. The pieces it fell to a year ago were only crumbles now.
Soon, they arrived at a large shop. The front was not flowing with people, only a few entering here and there. It was a normal sized shop, resembling a coffee place. Of course, a large black pipe was sitting on top of this shop, releasing grey smoke constantly.
"Alright, this is the place." Jameson stepped out and walked to the front door, patted the man on the shoulder.
"Everything will get better. Just keep fighting. Trust me, I know your pain." After saying his piece, he walked towards the entrance. The cab behind drove away soon after.
Pushing the door open, he walked in with small steps. His eyes were locked on the walls which had large and small blades. Different types of weapons were decorated all over the place.
"How are you doing sir? Are you looking around today or do you have something specific in mind?" A young man with a thin beard approached Jameson. His eyes were a bright brown, almost hazel.
Jameson looked at him for a second before answering. "Hello, I'm looking for a simple sword for a beginner. I also wanted to get a dagger and a gun."
The listened attentively and nodded his head. "Alright, that is no problem. Can I ask you a few questions before showing the various options?"
Seeing how attentive he was, Jameson smiled and nodded his head. "Go right ahead."
"Thank you. My first question. You said beginner, meaning its you first wielding a weapon, correct? Why are you focused on a sword? Why not a different weapon, is there a special reason?" After asking this question, he began to point at a specific wall. "Although a bit more pricey, spears are actually a better weapon then swords when it comes to general combat. They are a longer range and are not as difficult to control, well just as difficult but it has better uses for beginners. After all, these were one of the main cold weapons for regular soldiers back in the day."
Hearing his words, Jameson nodded in agreement. Why sword? Just because it was cool and something most people used in stories? That wasn't a good reason. Practicality was important.
"Next question, you mention that you would like a knife and gun as well. Although we have those, I was just curious. Its totally up to you if you would like to answer, but these are fairly specific weapons, and not really commonly used. Is there a reason for this as well? What did you want to use them for?"
"Honestly, I just wanted them for my own protection. A lot of people are now going bonkers, so having a gun and knife are good just in case, plus easy to hide. As for a sword, I thought it sounded cool, but the spear makes more sense." He gave a simple yet reasonable answer. "You seem to know your stuff, I would like you to decide what I should get and I will get it. Of course, I am on a budget, I don't want to go overboard."
"That is no problem. Just leave it to me." The man went behind a glass counter and began to write a few things on his phone. He then went to a wall and pulled off a long, black sabre. The hilt was matte black, while the black was a shiny black as well, though the material seemed somewhat strange. A little bit of smoke was permeating from the sabre itself.
"That seems to be a strange weapon." With curiosity, Jameson looked over and raised his eyebrow.
"This is actually a special weapon. It isn't something I was going to recommend to you, I was only moving it inside." He placed the blade on the counter before pointing towards a white spear, one that was much more simple and had a regular blade. "That over there was my recommendation. It's best for starters."
Looking at the spear, Jameson felt his tongue feel bitter. The difference was not amazing. He looked back at the sabre with more attention. "Tell me about this guy."
Seeing his curiosity, the man nodded his head and smiled. "This is actually one of the weapons we created just before the Qua sect came. It's made solely of material that evolved on Earth. Though those material are more rare now as the Qua sect excavated most of it, we were still able to obtain a few." Pulling out a piece of paper, he passed it over to Jameson. "This sabre is called, 'Tainted White'."
"That's ironic." Jameson snickered. He then began to read the pamphlet carefully.
"It was decided because of its parent material. Before the evolution, this was a rare white diamond sabre. However, the hole appeared and the weapon turned black. We don't know why, nor does the Qua sect." The young man said with a sigh.
"What's so special about it?" Jameson began to feel even more curious.
"The blade can only cut flesh. Nothing else." When Jameson heard this, he frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean? Isn't a blade only meant to cut flesh?" Everything had its purpose, so did weapons. The latter were meant to kill and cut.
"Let me show you." The young man lifted the sword and swung hard towards the glass table. Seeing this, Jameson jumped back in shock.
"Are you crazy?!" With a scream, Jameson witnessed a scene he never expected.
