Chapter 25: Getting called out

McKenzie found him in the lobby of the hotel. “What are you doing here?” He asked her. She didn’t answer until they were out on the street, in an alley away from prying eyes and ears. “Shouldn’t you be shopping?”

She waved a hand to dismiss him. “I can do that later,” she said.

Something was bothering her. “What is it?”

“Are you fucking her?”

David shook his head. He couldn’t believe this was going on. “What?”

McKenzie put her hands on her hips. She wasn’t dressed for seduction, but the jeans and t-shirt had a cut that would let her do it if she had to. “You heard me,” she said.

“Who?”

“That woman. You know who. Jessica.”

David felt his muscles settle in, ready for a spring. His body wanted to throttle McKenzie. “How do you know about her?”

“I saw you two,” she said. “In that restaurant.”

“And what were you doing there?” He had his suspicions.
