Chapter 9, Redeem His Children

Li Jain watches his hands and rolls up his sleeves. He rinses the potatoes, places them in a large pot with enough water and covers it to boil. While the potatoes were cooking, he rinsed the pestle. Under high heat, the potatoes didn't take long to cook. After confirming they were tender when pierced with a fork, he placed them in cold water to cool down. He put the oil in a large pot and placed it on the fire with lower heat.  He then uses the pestle and mash the potatoes thoroughly.

Then add the mashed potatoes, to the rice flour, starch and salt in a medium bowl and stir until the mixture comes together and forms dough, he adds a small spoon of water from time to time. He divides the dough into six pieces and shapes each piece into a one inch diameter log and cuts each log into one inch pieces. He fried the dough pieces until they were lightly golden, turning occasionally until they were deep golden brown and crispy. He took out some tomatoes and made a quick and simple sauce before serving.

Boss Lan sat there and watched the whole process along with the chefs. Seeing the potatoes turning from white to lightly golden to deep golden brown, he could wait to try some. The strong fragrant that was emitting from the pot made him can't wait to have some. After the dish was served, he took a piece without sauce and tried it. The super crispy and thin crust presses throughout his mouth giving him a strange yet delicious taste. He put the second one in the sauce and tried it, his eyes immediately widened, "I didn't know that the sauce could make so much difference. Although the potatoes are very tasty, eating with the sauce tastes even better!" Boss Lan was very happy with the results and waved to the chefs; "Come and have a tease."

 Those chefs couldn't wait to have a taste a long time ago. When the boss called for them, they hurried forward and their expression was much better than boss Lan. They were all surprised and excited about the taste.

The head chef said: "The taste is very rich. If we put out this new side dish, those young masters would want to fight over it and our restaurant reputation would increase by a lot."

"I agree. " The other chefs express their agreement.

"Mr. Jain, follow me."

Li Jain saw it was a success and followed boss Lan back to the guest room. 

"Name your press. How much do you want for the recipe?"

Li Jain saw through boss Lan's intentions and smiled, "Do you want the right to use the recipe and I'm not allowed to sell it to others?"

"Mr Jain is smart."

"Hundred and fifty gold coins would do since the recipe is really simple."

"Ok, deal."

Li Jain took out fifty gold coins and gave them to Boss Lan and deducted the hundred and fifty gold coins that were purchased for the recipe.

Boss Lan took the money from Li Jain and handed him a paper and brush. Li Jain grabbed his meaning and wrong the recipe ingredients on the paper.

"If you have any business in the future, don't forget to come to my Joyous restaurant."

"That will be for the time being, I also planned to open my restaurant in the near future. Speaking of which, I have some mushrooms here, would you like to see it?"

"I didn't know you can distinguish between poisonous and edible mushrooms. Like me have a look." 

Li Jain open his basket and fresh mushrooms came to view. Boss Lan look at them with excitement. Lots of people like mushrooms but only few are able to distinguish between them, and those people sell it really expensive.

Boss Lan discuss the price with Li Jain and ended up paying a hundred gold coins. After discussing with Boss Lan, he left to pick up the two children that were waiting for him in the backyard.

"Ge, where is daddy?" When Juanxin woke up, he only saw his brother and daddy were missing again just like yesterday morning.

Jing Sheng turned around: "Juanxin, you're awake. Daddy went out to buy the ingredients for making wine. Your breakfast is on the table. Eat and shower before daddy gets back."

"Okay…" The little boy rubbed the sleep from his eyes and went to the back yard to shower.

"Hey, Sheng, do you think I can learn cultivation too?" Jing Xuan came from in the house and sat next to Jing Sheng

"Why did you ask? Didn't daddy teach you last night? " Jing Sheng was puzzle, is the sun finally willing to shine in his brother today?

"That's different! When daddy was cooking yesterday, he used fire magic to light the fire and other stuff. If I can use magic, wouldn't I be able to make lots of delicious food easily?" Jing Xuan couldn't stop his saliva from flowing just imagining it.

"Foodie. Here I thought you had something better to say." Jing Sheng snored angrily, sometimes he really wanted to put sense into this brother's head.

"Why isn't daddy back yet?" Jing Xuan look at the sun in the sky and asked

"Daddy said he was going to bring brother Cheng and brother Zhang back."

"Really? That's good. I like brother Zhang, he is more fun then you." Jing Xuan said excitedly.

"I also like brother Cheng, who is intelligent and responsible unlike you who have nothing to do all day." Jing Sheng retorted

"I say brother Zhang is more fun." Jing Xuan instead

Jing Sheng frowned: "Since your brain is already mess up, you should look for someone intelligent to hank out with."

"Are you saying brother Zhang head is also mess up?"

"I didn't mean that!" Jing Sheng blush

"How can you be so mean? No mention how brother Zhang loves you so much." Jing Xuan act as if he didn't see his brother abnormal state.

Jing Sheng murmur: "Love me my ass, he drives me crazy everyday. He's just there years older than me, what's the big idea?" 

"Huh? What did you say ? I didn't hear you." His brother who always pretends to wear a cold face suddenly blush, how can Jing Xuan miss this opportunity to tease him?

Jing Sheng clenched his teeth in anger: "Li Jing Xuan! Are you looking for a beating?"

"Hahaha, how dare I? Sheng Sheng is so mighty, continue your rest, I won't bother you anymore." Jing Xuan quickly slip away

Jing Sheng snored and look at the sky, he was also looking forward to the arrival of his brothers.

"Daddy, did you really pay all your debt? If not, we can still work." Li Zhang asked while holding Li Jain's hand.

"Not only did I pay his money, I also earned more money. We will only get richer in the future, there's no need to work." Li Jain respond

"Well, that's great."

"Have you guys eaten?" Li Jain asked

"We did, but that was in the morning hour, I'm hungry now." Li Zhang said while rubbing his stomach.

"Let's go let me buy you bread at the shop."

"Sounds good."

Li Cheng walk on the quietly, not participating in their conversation but repeatedly observing Li Jain expression and moves.
