Chapter 36, Li Yujian & Li Yuhan

In the courtyard of the Yan residence,  two boys at the age of twelve were standing with their clothes bundled in hand waiting.

"I can't believe he really came back for us." Li Yuhan spoke up in a soft and quiet voice. "It can't be that he got an even better deal and wants to sell us instead, right?"

"I don't know." Li Yujian shook his head

"Jian, are we really going back with him? What about the plan of getting the brothers away? I don't think we'll be able to achieve anything by going there." Li Yuhan looked towards his brother's direction with concern in his eyes. It wasn't like any of them had any money on them but if they went back to Longxu village with no money then wouldn't their plan of escaping failed?

"Don't be hist. We've been away for a year and don't know the condition back home. It'll be wise to go back and see how things are before taking a step." Li Yujian said as calmly as ever, trying not to worry his brother too much. There are lots of things that can happen within a year, they can't judge their family situation based on a year ago. Who knows whether the little brats are willing to leave?

Li Yuhan frowned but nodded nonetheless. He was still unsure whether or not they would succeed. "Let's do as you say." he mumbled quietly.

...

The sound of footsteps was approaching  from a distance. When they heard it,   the siblings tensed up and looked over. The figure of a tall, slender man wearing formal attire could be seen walking towards them. His long dark hair fell on his back like a waterfall and his features were very handsome.   His face seems calm, almost gentle.

'He looked much better than last time. Seems like he'd stop gambling, smoking and drinking. That man really did change after being apart for so long.' Li Yujian said to his brother through sound transmission.

Li Yujian is the only one who obtained the skill of sound transmission from birth. He can connect his mind with anyone and communicate with them through sound. This is one of the reasons why they were able to survive in the Yan family.

'Yeah, he looks good.' Li Yuhan agreed, staring hard at the man who was now slowly approaching.

Li Jain was  uncertain when he approached the two children. Despite being twins, these two boys look nothing alike. The only similarity between them was their skin color. They're both light brunette with black hair. However, one eye is quite different from the other. one eye seemed more amber color. But other than that, there was nothing that stood out for Li Yujian and Li Yuhan in comparison.

'Why is he staring at us like that?' Li Yuhan asked while their minds were still connected.

'He probably.... doesn't recognize us.' Li Yujian replied while also looking at Li Jain.  His expression is unreadable which made Han feel uneasy.

'Impossible! How can that be?'  Li Yuhan thought to himself, frowning at the fact that Li Jain hadn't recognised his own children.

'I would've said the same if the truth wasn't in front of us.'   Li Yujian inwardly sighed. 'But that man surely changed. He seems so serious nowadays. And that's not just because he's been away. Also he seems very  strange..' Li Yujian pondered.

Li Jain looked at Li Yuhan's furious expansion and was confused. Why are his pupils shrinking and his cheeks becoming pale all of a sudden?' He thought with growing concern.

'Are we just going to stand staring at each other?' Asked Li Yuhan

'I'll break the ice."

'I don't think it's a good idea.'

But Li Yujian didn't listen to him and said to Li Jain; "It's interesting that you came all the way to redeem your children; yet you don't actually know them. What would you have done if the Yan family had given you the wrong pair?" Li Yujian started off casually. While Li Yuhan held his forehead in frustration. His older brother is not helping matters, there's no need to be so direct.

Li Jain looked at Li Yujian thoughtfully. This kid has a handsome face, except for his black eyes that look very dull and lifeless. He's not sure why but something about this child is familiar and he can't put his finger on it.

For some reason, Li Jain didn't think that the Yan family would give him the wrong children but then again.. He really can't remember anything clearly from the original owner's blurry memories. Therefore; he thought of taking the children back to see if the little ones at home recognize them.

Before he could organize his thoughts, Li Yuhan smiled and walked towards him. "Daddy, you finally came to get us. When the Yan Patriarch said  that we were free to leave with you, I  was ecstatic!" Li Yuhan chirped while throwing himself into Li Jain's arms with a loud sobbing cry.  *sob*, he thought, burying his head into the crook of Li Jain's neck.

Li Jain's expression instantly shifted. His heart thumped loudly, his ears burning with embarrassment.

Li Yujian looked at this scene in bewilderment.  Han acting skills have improved again!'

His brother's reaction was unexpected, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. After all this is what he's good at.

Li Jain picks Li Yuhan up from his shoulder and looks at him carefully; "You are?" He asked

band!!!

Li Yuhan's flawless performance finally has a crack in it. He looked at Li Jain with a perplexed expression, 'Come on, don't you know what it means to go with the flow?' He thought bitterly.

Li Yujian almost laughed out loud but restrained himself. When was the last time Han found himself in a situation like this? It's funny how Li Yuhan's mask suddenly cracked. The situation was hilariously amusing and hilarious.

"Why are you not saying anything?" Li Jain asked in a low tone with a tinge of confusion.

The siblings exchanged a look and both felt helpless.

Li Yujian couldn't help but let out a short chuckle which was covered up by Li Yuhan. "I was thinking.... Daddy, you don't recognize us?" He asked as innocently as he could while playing with his hands behind his back.

"Ah, sorry. I was sick the last time and lost some of my memories. Now the rest are blurred." Jain smiled apologetically at Li Yuhan.

The siblings exchanged another glance, silently   telling each other the information in a single look. "Well, don't worry about it. I'm glad you've recovered. I am Li Yuhan and he is Li Yujian. We are the first set of twins."  Li Yuhan introduced while Li Yujian gave a tiny nod.

"Good. Is there anything you need to pack before we leave?" Jain asks after a brief pause.

"No, we're already packed up." Li Yuhan answers.

"Ok, let's go." Li Jain replied and headed towards the gate while the siblings followed him obediently.

The security opened the gate and let them through. Since Li Jain didn't bring the carriage and only brought the horse, the three of them sat on the horse and headed down the path.

....

Fengwu City, Hill Valley community, at the Shen family residence.

The weather today was warm and sunny. A few clouds dotted the sky. It was quite nice and bright outside.

Shen Yuan stood at the door and hesitated to knock.  In the end, he decided to knock after hearing the noise from inside from someone opening the door. When he saw Shen Feng standing at the door, he immediately bowed to him. "Greetings Father. Sorry for disturbing you. I know you just came back and didn't mean to disturb your rest, but there's something I want to show you."

Shen Feng glanced at his son before letting him in, "It's alright. Sit down please."

Shen Yuan sat down on the small stool and said, "After we went to Longxu village, Xiao Yang made a friend called Li Jingxuan. They were really close, and when we were about to leave, his father gave a book which has a seal on it to Xiao Yang as a present."

Shen Feng furrowed his brows. "Xiao Yang has a friend? Let me see the book." He commanded.

Shen Yuan handed the book to his father and watched as he carefully   opened the book.

The seal on the book released several rays of white light   and gradually disappeared until the seal returned to normal. The expression of Shen Feng changes dramatically after reading the content of the book.

"Who's Li Jingxuan? What's the name of his father?" Shen Feng's expression became somber. He closed the book and held it tightly.

"Is there something wrong with the book, father?" Shen Yuan asked concernedly while getting nervous because of his father's reaction.

"This is a treasure! Something I've been looking for, for seven years now. With this book, Xiao Yang's physique problem will be solved."

"What?!" Hearing that, Shen Yuan quickly stands up. "That's really good. But how can Li Jingxuan father something this precious away for free?"

Shen Feng placed the book down on the table. "We have to go to Longxu Village right away and repay him." He says firmly without hesitation.

"Father, the Li family has moved to Qingyuan town. According to Xiao Yang, they should be opening a restaurant called Spiritual Traven. Once it opens, it'll be easy to find them. By then you can also prepare a generous gift." Shen Yuan advice.

A hint of relief passed through Shen Feng's face and then he nodded. "Yes. That is true. If we wait until it opens, it won't be too late."
