Meilin opened her eyes and looked at Li Na.
"The bullet hit the dog in the chest." Meilin said. "The dog yelped and fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. It died within seconds."
Li Na looked troubled. "Poor thing. Do you think the killer was after me?"
Meilin, unable to meet her gaze, responded, "Most likely, but I'm not certain. If I were the assassin, I wouldn't have hesitated to pull the trigger."
Li Na understood the point, "So, you're saying there was a reason the person hesitated?"
"Bingo," Mei Lin replied. "We just need to figure that out."
"Why don't you use your magic to, you know, figure it out?" Li Na suggested.
Meilin shook her head and explained, "Li Na, if it were that easy, would I have gone to find a dead dog to see through its vision?" Li Na felt a bit embarrassed by her suggestion.
