"I'm so sorry, Ning Yu," she whispered. "I wish I could be there with you."
"It's okay, Li Na," Ning Yu replied, trying to sound upbeat. "We just have to keep going, right? One day at a time."
"Yeah, one day at a time,"
They talked for a few more minutes, catching up on small details and sharing comforting words. After about ten minutes, they said their goodbyes, promising to stay in touch. The call ended, and Li Na stared at the phone for a moment, contemplating her next move. She decided to call Gong Li to check on her. She turned back to the room, her eyes drifting to Tang Zheng, who was lounging on the sofa, watching her with a lazy smile.
"Already calling someone else?" he teased as she walked back in. "You sure you're not avoiding spending time with me?"
Li Na raised an eyebrow. "Please, don't flatter yourself. I just have more important things to do than stroke your ego all day."
