Chapter 12: I'm Really a Seller of Lamb Skewers

"Yang... Yang Chen... Please go out quickly..." Li Jingjing turned around, but she was afraid of revealing her round and perky buttocks, and couldn't help but cry in a hurry.

Hearing the girl's clear and pure plea, Yang Chen's bloodshot eyes finally calmed down. He took a deep breath and suppressed his impulsive desire, then immediately closed the door and went out.

After waiting outside for a while, Li Jingjing, who had changed her clothes, lowered her head and walked out. The blush on her face spread to the roots of her ears.

"I'm sorry, Jingjing. I didn't mean to." Yang Chen apologized with guilt.

Li Jingjing weakly murmured, "Mm... I know... You are a good person..."

"Good person, huh..." Yang Chen smiled bitterly and muttered to himself, "Jingjing, earn some money and buy a good house in the future. You can take out a loan. It's not convenient for a girl to always live with her parents."

"Mm..." The girl didn't know if she had heard it or not, with a pitiful look like a wounded little lamb, which made people feel sorry for her.

Yang Chen sighed, "It's late now. You should rest early. Won't you have to go to work tomorrow? As a new teacher, you have to make some achievements. I'll go back after using the restroom."

"Mm... Brother Yang, take care." The girl's voice was still soft, but it could really make a man's bones tingle.

After encountering Li Jingjing taking a shower, Yang Chen was completely awakened. Carrying the guilt of a pure-hearted girl in his heart, Yang Chen walked out of the yard and returned home under the farewell of the old Li couple.

After closing the door, the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Li, began to talk about Yang Chen.

Mrs. Li was worried and said, "Old man, do you think Jing Jing has fallen for Yang Chen? I can tell from the way she looks at him."

"Even if she likes him, isn't Yang Chen a good match for Jing Jing?" Old Mr. Li chuckled.

"What are you saying? Yang Chen may be a nice guy, but he sells lamb skewers for a living. Jing Jing is a high school teacher now. Are you suggesting that she should marry someone who sells food on the street?" Mrs. Li retorted angrily.

Old Mr. Li frowned and took a puff of his cigarette. "What's wrong with running a small business? Yang Chen has helped us a lot. Without our family, would he be just a lamb skewer vendor?"

Mrs. Li realized that she had made her husband angry and didn't say anything more. However, in her heart, she had made up her mind to prevent her daughter from being with Yang Chen. She decided to invite him over for dinner a few times to compensate him.

Little did the couple know that their daughter, Li Jing Jing, was secretly watching Yang Chen leave from the window upstairs, her face blushing and her heart racing. Along the river, Yang Chen bought a pack of two-yuan Xihu cigarettes from a convenience store and walked towards home, smoking as he went.

He remembered the bits and pieces of his encounter with Li Jing Jing and her family when he first returned to China. He thought about how the little girl with the yellow hair had suddenly become a beautiful young woman in just half a year. He couldn't help but feel amazed at how much a person can change in such a short time, and how unpredictable life can be.

He remembered that he had saved Li Jing Jing from being attacked by a criminal by the riverbank, which was how he had met her family. Perhaps every girl has a hero-worshipping heart, even if he was just a lamb skewer vendor. In Li Jing Jing's heart, he was probably different from other men.

Lost in thought, Yang Chen walked to the dock by the riverbank without realizing it. The sparse streetlights illuminated the dock, creating a misty and beautiful atmosphere. The summer breeze blew past, bringing a refreshing chill.

As Yang Chen walked along the road, his eyes were suddenly drawn to a tall SUV parked on the side. He then looked over to the riverbank and saw a beautiful, statuesque woman in a black dress standing by the railing.

Her wavy hair cascaded in loose waves, and the light revealed a few strands of rose-red highlights that complemented her alluring pale face. The woman wore light eye makeup, and her watery eyes gazed off into the distance, showing a hint of sorrow. Her full figure showcased the exquisite charm of a mature woman, with ample breasts and plump hips that still caught the eye even under her black veil skirt. A pair of crystal-colored high heels completed the ensemble, giving off an air of sophistication and elegance.

She was the perfect prey for a night hunt. With just one glance, Yang Chen's blood began to boil again after being already excited by seeing Li Jingjing's figure.

"Nice car. " Yang Chen commented, leaning against the railing.

The beautiful woman withdrew her gaze from the distant yacht and turned her head slightly, her eyes filled with confusion and surprise, but she quickly flashed a charming smile. "Do you know this car?"

Yang Chen not only knew it, but he also chuckled silently in his heart, remembering how he had destroyed hundreds of these British-made Land Rover cars in his past. "Anniversary, the 40th anniversary edition of Land Rover, with a maximum power of 375 kilowatts and a peak torque of 625, equipped with a 5.0-liter turbocharged engine... Did I get that right?" Yang Chen asked, looking pleased with himself.

"I don't understand all of that, but I just love this car, so I bought it," the woman replied, tucking back a strand of her flying hair, a simple gesture that only made her more captivating.

Women always like small and elegant sports cars, like Porsche 911, Mercedes SLR, BMW Z4, even the Audi TT would be more popular than a Land Rover. I don't believe that someone who can afford these cars can't afford those." Yang Chen pulled out a cigarette. Since the mature beauty in front of him didn't reject him, Yang Chen didn't mind chatting more.

The lady shook her head. "I don't think so. Driving a sports car is far less secure than driving an SUV... Women should be better at protecting themselves, shouldn't they?"

"Beauty, it seems like you don't feel secure." Yang Chen was delighted. She seemed to be a deep-seated grudge-bearing woman, and such women were the easiest to hook.

Unexpectedly, the lady still shook her head. "You're wrong. I feel safe. The reason why driving an SUV feels more secure is just to make oneself feel more comfortable."

"You're wrong. If you really feel safe, you should give me a slap and tell me to get lost." Yang Chen smiled wickedly and leaned forward, exhaling a puff of smoke.

The lady didn't dodge, and the pungent smell of cigarette smoke dissipated in the wind. She stared straight at Yang Chen with her bright and shining eyes, and finally smiled brightly. "Who are you, young master? If you think that using these words will attract my attention as Tang Wan, then you are underestimating me."

"You're Tang Wan?" Yang Chen silently repeated it twice and smiled. "I'm not a young master from any family. I'm just a skewer seller. If you have time, come to the West District market and see for yourself."

"A skewer seller?" Tang Wan carefully examined Yang Chen for a few moments, unable to help but burst into laughter, and only stopped after a flurry of convulsions. "Little handsome guy, do you think I'm a fool, or are you deceiving yourself?"

"I really am a skewer seller, although I don't have a business license." Yang Chen repeated helplessly. Why was it that nowadays, no one believed you when you told the truth?
