Chapter 13: Marriage

With a cold snort, Tang Wan suddenly extended her ivory-like, moist hand and gripped the button of Yang Chen's shirt collar. She gave him a coquettish glance and said, "This is an Italian handmade shirt specially designed for the royal nobility, without a brand label. However, the button is made of blue diamond from Namibia, and the polishing technique is of international top-notch level. This shirt alone costs no less than ten million yuan. Do you think anyone can't recognize it and mistake it for a cheap shirt with plastic buttons?"

Yang Chen felt a bit embarrassed. He didn't expect someone to recognize the true value of his shirt. But he quickly replied with a smile, "Miss Tang has a good eye, but you are mistaken. This blue diamond is produced in Namibia, not South Africa."

"You still say you're not from a wealthy family. Only a few people in Zhonghai can wear clothes with Namibian diamond buttons...Don't lie to me." Tang Wan narrowed her eyes and became a little displeased.

Yang Chen took a few deep puffs of his cigarette, tossed the butt into the river, and said with frustration, "Miss Tang Wan, let's be frank. Yes, you are beautiful, and I, Yang Chen, would like to sleep with you, but I don't have to pretend to be a barbecue seller just to get into your bed, right? I already said I'm just a barbecue seller, who says a barbecue seller can't wear a ten million shirt with diamond buttons? Can't you trust me and change the topic?"

"That's really rude." Tang Wan immediately scolded him without hesitation, but then smiled brightly and said, "But I like your frankness. Well, for now, I'll treat you as a barbecue seller, but Mr. Yang Chen, I don't want to sleep with you, let alone with a barbecue seller."

"Then why did you talk to me so much?" Yang Chen felt a little dejected. He thought he had met a woman who was willing to jump into bed with him, but it turned out she had no interest in that aspect at all.

Tang Wan giggled, her twin peaks swaying dangerously, "Mr. Yang, you are a very natural man, much more pleasing to the eye than those refined gentlemen. But unfortunately, I'm not the kind of woman you think I am. I only said those things to you because I felt a little frustrated just now."

"And then?"

"And then, I feel much better now. Thank you. If we meet again, I'll treat you to tea."

After that, Tang Wan walked towards her Land Rover. She took a few steps, then stopped and turned back to smile charmingly, "By the way, I suggest you not smoke in front of ladies. Most women are not like the ones in nightclubs who would think this is polite behavior..."

Yang Chen watched the black Land Rover disappear into the distance like a swift leopard in the night before muttering to himself in resignation, "Is being a barbecue seller really that bad? Should I change my profession?"

The next morning, shortly after getting out of bed, Yang Chen heard a loud knocking on his door. He got up, feeling annoyed, and wearing only his boxer shorts, went to the door to open it. Outside, with a frosty expression, stood Lin Ruoxi.

Upon seeing Yang Chen's muscular upper body, Lin Ruoxi blushed and averted her gaze. But she remained expressionless as she said, "Hurry up and get dressed. I'm in a hurry."

Yang Chen ran his hand through his hair and replied, "Miss Lin, we're getting married today. Can't I at least take a shower and have breakfast first, instead of rushing like we're going to a farmer's market?"

"No, I have a meeting at ten," Lin Ruoxi's tone brooked no argument. "Don't forget to bring your ID card."

Resigned to the woman's authority, Yang Chen put on a shirt and shorts and followed Lin Ruoxi downstairs. They got into her red Bentley together. From the back seat, Lin Ruoxi handed Yang Chen two large bags and said without looking back, "Change into this, so you won't be laughed at."

Only then did Yang Chen notice that Lin Ruoxi was dressed in a formal OL suit today. The beige suit was obviously crafted by a famous designer, with sleek lines that hugged Lin Ruoxi's alluring curves. The outfit complemented her icy and intellectually rich beauty, making her a stunning sight that men couldn't resist.

"Hey, hey, my wife. You're already buying clothes for me before we're officially married..." Yang Chen laughed shamelessly as he pulled out an Armani suit and trousers, as well as a brand-new pair of Pierrecardin leather shoes from the big bag. It was clear that he had prepared everything carefully.

Lin Ruoxi drove attentively and pretended not to have heard Yang Chen's shameless words. Yang Chen was nimble and deft, and even on the relatively narrow seat, he changed into the luxurious outfit with ease. He then preened in the car's mirror, looking refreshed and revitalized.

Although Lin Ruoxi kept her eyes fixed on the road ahead, she couldn't help but sneak a few glances at Yang Chen from the corner of her eye. When she saw him in a suit and tie, her heart raced uncontrollably, which she found shameful. However, the man's carefree and unrestrained demeanor, occasional melancholy glances, and extraordinary temperament all fascinated her. Yang Chen, in this suit, looked much more elegant and refined than the rich boys she had seen before.

Lin Ruoxi comforted herself inwardly, thinking, "At least he looks presentable now. I won't be embarrassed to take him out."

As they drove towards the Civil Affairs Bureau, Lin Ruoxi took the opportunity to touch up her makeup, and soon they arrived at their destination.

After getting out of the car, Lin Ruoxi hesitated for a moment before taking a deep breath and taking Yang Chen's arm, looking like a happy bird. Yang Chen couldn't help but laugh, "Good job, my obedient wife. We're starting the act now, you're so professional."

"Don't laugh, just play your role properly! We signed a contract, remember?" Lin Ruoxi glared at him.

Yang Chen sighed helplessly and let Lin Ruoxi hold onto him. He knew he could occasionally brush against her soft, ample chest, so he didn't mind. Lin Ruoxi was aware of his actions, but she could only grit her teeth and endure it. After all, they had many more days to pretend in the future, and as long as this bad guy took advantage of her a little, it was fine.

As they walked into the Civil Affairs Bureau, their stunning looks attracted the attention of everyone around them. Yang Chen, dressed in branded clothing, looked handsome and free-spirited, while Lin Ruoxi, naturally beautiful, was stunning in everyone's eyes.

After verifying their documents, the civil servant quickly processed their application and congratulated them with a smile, "Congratulations, here's your marriage certificate, please keep it safe. You're such an enviable couple, and I'm sure you'll live happily ever after."

Lin Ruoxi held onto Yang Chen's wrist and blushed as she was stared at by everyone around her. She couldn't believe she was holding her marriage certificate, having married a man she had only known for a little over a day. She gazed at Yang Chen in a daze, only to find that he too was staring blankly at the certificate, lost in thought.

As well as he feels? What is he thinking? Does he dislike it or is he happy? Lin Ruoxi suddenly asked herself, but then she was startled. Why would she care about what he thinks?

Yang Chen suddenly turned his head and met Lin Ruoxi's eyes. He smirked and said, "What's wrong, wife? Don't tell me you regret it right after getting our marriage certificate. You were the one who forced me to come."

"Do you think I really want to marry you?" Lin Ruoxi muttered hatefully, "But don't worry, Yang Chen. When I make up my mind, I won't change it. You just need to cooperate with me and act like we're married for three years, and don't cause any trouble."

After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau, Lin Ruoxi immediately let go of Yang Chen's arm and returned to her usual cold expression. "Alright, I have to go to work now. You can go back on your own."

"Go back? You're not going to make me walk back, are you?" Yang Chen whined. His wife was such a drama queen. They just got married and she was making him walk several miles back home.

Lin Ruoxi took out a card from her purse and handed it to Yang Chen. The address "No. 89 Longjing Garden, Wenhua Road" was written in elegant handwriting.

"We have to live together now that we're married, or else we can't hide it from others. Move in with me so you can get out of that dog house sooner," she said before getting into her car and driving away without looking back.

Yang Chen laughed bitterly, "In the end, I still have to move out."
