The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: Chapter 9

Meanwhile, Tom and Sam were fine and didn’t see any ghosts. They opened the door to the library and saw Lou struggling. Tom said, “Lou, what are you doing?” Lou said, “I can’t move.” Sam said, “Why not?” Lou pointed across the room, and Tom and Sam looked at where she was pointing. When they did, they saw a doll of her tied up. Lou said, “Un-tie the doll.” Tom grabbed the Lou doll and lifted it up. Then Lou started to float up in the air, and Sam tried to get her down. Lou said, “You can’t get me down. It’s that doll.” Tom said, “What?” Tom un-tied the doll, and Lou moved her limbs again. Then Tom put the toy down on a table, and Lou got set down on the floor. Lou said, “Thanks.” Tom said, “Hmm.” Tom lifted Lou’s doll’s leg up, and Lou lifted her leg up too. Tom then took a needle and said, “Hmm. I wonder.”

Tom put the needle in the doll’s back, and Lou felt that pain. Lou said, “Ouch. Watch it. That’s a voodoo doll. Whatever happens to it happens to me. And two can play your game.” Lou grabbed the Tom doll and showed it to Tom. Then Tom got lifted up in the air, and Lou pushed the toy against the wall. Then Tom got hit against the wall and then fell to the floor. Lou laughed, Tom brought out the Lou doll, and Lou got lifted up in the air. Then Sam took both their dolls from them and set them back with the other dolls. Sam said, “No more arguing, guys.”

After Sam put the dolls back, Lou and Tom both fell to the ground. Then they left the library and still didn’t see any ghosts around. Then Lou sat down on a chair covered with a white sheet, and Sam and Tom sat down on the sofa. While Lou was sitting down, the sheet on the chair she was in floated off and turned into a ghost. When Sam and Tom saw it, they pointed at it and were both speechless. Lou said, “What? What is it?” Sam and Tom kept directing their fingers at the ghost behind Lou, but Lou didn’t see it. Then the spirit smiled, separated its arms, and lifted them in the air while moaning. Lou wondered where that moaning sound was coming from, so she looked behind her and saw the ghost. Then all three of them screamed in terror and ran for their lives.

After they left the room they were in, all ten of them ran into the same room screaming and bumped into each other. Then the kids all stopped panicking and saw that everything that was chasing each of them was gone. Then Violet came out from hiding and met up with the others. And after Violet came out, Emma picked her up and took her to the living room with them.

Once they got to the living room, the kids all sat down and tried to calm down. Some of the kids sat down in chairs while the others sat down on the floor. Susan said, “I assume we are safe here for now.” Violet said, “Yes, but for how long?” Pablo said, “You know, my mom always says, ‘no matter how bad things get, you can always feel better by singing a song.’” Lou said, “Let’s try it.” The girls started slowly. Then the boys joined in slowly, and they all sang quietly. Sam said, “Why don’t I feel better?” Lou told Susan to come to her, and they hugged. Then they all continued singing, and they sang louder. While they were singing, they started to feel better and smile. Then they all hugged each other while they sang. When they finished hugging, they concluded their song together and sang it with a smile.

When they finished singing, a gusty breeze blew in, and zombies started to rise up from the ground and walk up to the house. The zombies broke open the windows they boarded up. Susan said, “Looks like the zombies are back.” The zombies started to crawl into the house through the window. Then three of them surrounded Sam and Susan ran to her rescue. Susan said, “Huh, Sam.” Sam ran up to the zombies and pushed them down. Then she grabbed one and threw him across the room. Then Susan grabbed Sam, and they both hurried back to where the others were. Sam said, “You, you saved me.” Susan said, “Of course I did; that’s what friends are for.” While they were trying to defend themselves, more and more zombies walked up to the house and started to come in through the doors and windows. Alex said, “What do we do now? We’re not spies, we don’t have gadgets, and we’re not geniuses with weapons.”

When they saw the zombies coming, they quickly ran upstairs and hid inside one of the bedrooms. The zombies walked up the stairs after the kids and Violet and tried to find out where they were hiding. Emma said, “I think I know a way for us to have weaponry.” Emma took Susan’s necklace off her and broke it. Then Emma gave the beads of the chain to Susan and told her to use them as weaponry. Then Helga found a sewing kit and took the needle and thread from it that they could use. Tom took his bubble gum from his pocket and thought he could use it as weaponry.

When the zombies found where they were hiding, they tried to break the door down. Tom then put a stick of his bubble gum in his mouth and started to chew. Once the zombies got the door open, Tom blew a bubble, and when it got too big and popped, it shot the zombies away from the door, and they got covered in gum. Mike said, “Great gum.” The zombies got back up and growled at the kids. Mike and Susan were getting fed up with the zombies, so they ran up to them and tried hitting them down. Mike gave one a good kick, and it hit another one away while two more walked up towards them. Susan kicked one of them down and then threw another away while Mike threw another to the ground. Mike kicked three more away while Susan punched two of them. Mike said, “I wish these guys would stay down.” Susan said, “They’re zombies. If you kick one of their body parts off, they can grab them and put them back on. Zombies are practically indestructible.” Alex said, “We got to get out of here. Grab Violet.”

Tom threw Alex a piece of gum and then winked at Alex. Alex threw the bit of gum in his mouth, chewed it, and then blew a giant bubble. Once the zombies got close to his gum balloon, it popped, and their entire bodies got covered with gum. Then they fell to the ground, and Alex ran back into the room and slammed the door. Then they opened the window, climbed out of it, and jumped off the side of the house, hoping to get away from the zombies. Once Alex and Bobby got to the bottom, Mike threw a rug down at them. Then they each held an end and caught everybody on the carpet as they jumped out the window.
