The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: Chapter 8

Meanwhile, Helga took the boards off the front door, went outside into the storm, and tried to find the monster she saw. Helga said, “Hello? Anybody out there?” Helga looked all over but didn’t see anybody. Helga said, “Great, Helga, you’re so scared you see things.” Helga didn’t know that even though she didn’t see the monster, the monster saw her. Helga went back to the front door, and the shadowy figure followed her. Helga tried to get inside, but the door got locked again, so she pounded on it. Helga said, “Let me in, let me in.” Helga started to hear someone breathing, so she turned around and looked around. Helga looked all around but didn’t see anyone in the storm. She began to get scared and saw the shadowy figure she saw earlier hiding in the shadows and laughing at her. Helga screamed in terror and ran away. Helga ran for her life while the shadow figure chased her, but she slipped on a puddle and fell in the mud. Then Helga looked behind her and saw the shadowy figure following her. Once Helga saw him, she screamed in terror again.

While Helga was in trouble, the others hid from the ghosts, and Lou hid in the library. While inside the library, a bust turned its head and spotted her under the table. Lou whispered, “I don’t think those ghosts will find me here.” Lou started to hear a creaking sound, so Lou came out for a minute. Once she came out, a bookshelf collapsed and almost fell on her. Lou saw the bookshelf tip over and jumped out of the way before it smashed her. Lou said, “That was close.” Look then looked in front of her and saw ten dolls on the table. Lou said, “Ooh, look, someone used to play with dolls here.” Lou picked one of the dolls up and looked at it. Then Helga got lifted in the air. Lou said, “You know, this doll kind of reminds me of Helga. In fact, all these dolls remind me of my friends. One of them even looks like me.” Lou moved the Helga doll’s leg, and then Helga swung her leg in the air. Helga said, “Put me down, you spirit, put me down.”

Lou tossed the Helga doll, and when it hit the floor, Helga got what she asked for and fell to the ground and into the mud again. Lou grabbed the Alex doll next, and then Alex got lifted in the air. Alex said, “Get me down, get me down.” Lou bent the doll’s back forward, and Alex leaned his back forward too. Then Lou moved the doll’s arm, and Alex punched Mike. Alex said, “Oops. Sorry.” Then Lou put the toy down, and Alex got set down on the ground. Then Lou went over to where she tossed the Helga doll, picked it up, and Helga got lifted in the air again. Then Lou put the toy back, and Helga got put back down on the ground.

Lou decided to leave the library, but it was locked when she tried to open the door. Lou said, “I’m trapped.” Sarah said, “No kidding.” Lou said, “You.” Sarah said, “Yes.” Sarah flew over to the dolls and grabbed the one that looked like Lou. Then she pressed it against the wall, and a mysterious force levitated Lou and slammed her against the wall. Lou said, “How’d you do that?” Sarah said, “Ever heard of voodoo dolls? Whatever happens to the doll happens to the person it looks like.” Sarah showed Lou she had a doll that looked just like her. Then she moved the doll’s arm, and Lou moved her arm too. Then Sarah tied the toy up with rope and set it down on the table. Once she did, Lou sat down on the floor and couldn’t move her limbs because her doll was tied up. Then Sarah laughed evilly and put Lou’s doll on the other side of the room so Lou couldn’t reach it. Then she vanished and left Lou and her doll tied up.

While Lou was tied up, the others were getting scared out of their minds. Helga hid from the shadowy figure outside while the shadowy figure looked all over for her. A suit of armor was chasing Emma, Mike, and Violet. Alex and Bobby heard the organ playing itself. While the organ played itself, Alex and Bobby hid behind the sofa and waited for the organ to stop playing itself since they didn’t like the music. Then a monster looked behind the couch and found them. Alex looked up and saw the beast. Alex said, “We got company.” The beast tried to scratch them, but the boys ran for their lives. Once they got to the next room, they slammed the door shut. Bobby said, “That was close.” Then one of the ghosts turned itself transparent, phased through the door, and spotted the boys. The ghost said, “Not close enough.” Alex and Bobby both turned around, saw the spirit, and screamed. Then they all ran for their lives, and the ghost laughed because she scared them. Then she went back into the room she came out of and left the boys running for their lives.

Meanwhile, Helga was still running for her life from the shadowy figure. She tried to get into the mansion through the back door, but she forgot she and her friends boarded it up. Helga then looked behind her, saw the shadowy figure, and ran for it after she screamed. Once Alex and Bobby heard Helga scream, they ran outside to save her. Once they got out of the mansion, they looked around for Helga but couldn’t find her. Then they heard her scream again and followed her screaming, hoping it would lead them to her. Once they did, Helga ran towards them while screaming and bumped into them. Helga said, “Oh, hi guys.” Bobby said, “What were you trying to get away from?” Helga pointed at the shadowy figure and told her friends she was trying to get away from him. The others looked at what Helga was pointing at and saw the shadowy figure walking towards them. Then they all screamed in terror and ran for the front door. Then they all ran into the mansion since the door was now unlocked and then barricaded it. Then they all split up into two separate groups to get away from the shadowy figure.

Meanwhile, Pablo and Susan were running from the sludge monster, who was a giant spider now. When it found them, it tried to scare them. Susan hid behind Pablo, but Pablo stood still. Pablo said, “I’m not afraid of spiders.” Susan said, “But I am.” Since Pablo wasn’t afraid, the monster shape-shifted into a ninja, brought out its sword, and held it up to Pablo. Then Pablo screamed in terror and hid behind Susan. Susan said, “You’re afraid of ninjas?” Pablo said, “You’re afraid of spiders.” Both Pablo and Susan ran for their lives, and the monster chased after them while it was a ninja.
