When Elmer and his mother returned home, Nydia was already playing with Ava. She was holding a little comb from who knows where, dressing and grooming Ava. What surprised Elmer was that Ava was wearing a pure white dress, looking just like a Barbie doll, incredibly cute. Her originally straight hair had been curled by Nydia, and it seemed like Nydia was trying to turn Ava into a Barbie doll.
"Isn't she cute?" Nydia held Ava up.
"Yeah," Elmer nodded. "Only someone as careful as you would make her look so beautiful. If you were taking care of her, she'd be all dirty!"
Nydia stuck out her tongue and cheered while holding Ava, while Elmer and his mother went into their room.
After locking the door, Margaret took out the neatly arranged photos from a black bag and looked at them one by one. She seemed to see a glimpse of her husband's appearance from twenty years ago in Elmer and flashed a Regina-like smile but knew she shouldn't let her mind wander.
