Mr. Mayor
CHAPTER TWO
They head back to the office. Discussing about the murder and how there's no lead at all to help solve the case easily. They got to the office and head to the discussion room, greeting some co-workers as they walked. As soon as they got in the small room, Abraham closed the door behind them.
"I need everything that we can get on the Mayor. Most especially his business dealings with Mr William James"
"On it" Abraham exits the room and goes straight to the ICT room.
"Why can't I get my hands on anything, any lead at all?" Stacy asks. She needs some lead to help solve this murder. It's not like any other kind of murder. It was well planned and calculated. The killer left nothing behind. But she will leave no stone unturn until she finds who it is and bring them to justice.
She opens the files with the photos of Mr William and began to inspect them. The line around his neck an evident of him being strangled. He tried to stop himself from dying but couldn't. His car or any property of his, wasn't touched. Which means the killer only came for him and nothing else but then, what is with the paper found on him? What crime did he commit? Why did the killer say they will all die if they don't repent? It baffled her. She couldn't place her fingers on anything or anyone. It sounds like an old rivalry. Maybe he has a secret that no one knows about except him and maybe the killer. It's so complicated. Who is Mr William James?
Abraham enters the small room with a file in his hand. He hand's it over to Stacy who took it from him. She begins to go through the Mayor's details. Well that's one way to start.
"We will question him tomorrow. Go home and take a rest" Abraham nods as he exists the small discussion room. Stacy also wrapped up her things and exit the room.
She got to her apartment and slumped in her sofa. What a day? She thought. She peeled off her shoes with each of her foots. After few minutes of relaxing she went to her kitchen and poured some water for herself to drink. She drank to her satisfaction and made her way to the bedroom. She stripped off her clothes and head into the restroom. She took a relaxing shower to calm her nerves. It was a long day and will continue to be until she solves this murder case. She finished up and went back to her bedroom. She opens the wardrobe and brought out her PJ. She wore it and head to the kitchen where she made herself some food and after eating to her full she made her way to the restroom again and brushed her mouth, after which she went back to her living room to crack some of the things related to the murder.
She opens the Mayor file and starred at the man in the photos, for some reason it feels like there's an old grudge or something. I can't really say.
She begins going through the file to grasp whatever she can that will help the investigation
"Mayor. What am I gonna do with you? It seems you will be into a lot of trouble" she says to herself with a satisfied smile. The Mayor will finally answer to law and she will aid it. Now she realizes that the murder of Mr William James will be the best tool nail down some white-collar criminals. Pen criminals.
She yawns and she told herself its time to get some sleep. There's a lot to do tomorrow. She stands up from her sitting position and heads straight to bed.
"Good morning Abraham"
"Mmm someone looks happy and cheerful" he says with a grin
"Well yeah... maybe" she smiles and her smile is beautiful Abraham thought "we are going to interrogate the Mayor this morning. We need to know what he knows"
"Ok"
"Any new discovery on the case so far?"
"Well none yet. It's a hard nut"
"Then let's crack it. Let's go" they left the station for the mayor's office. It was close to half an hour drive. They went straight to the reception as soon as they got to the gigantic building and for some reason Abraham wished he had office in a building like this.
"Hello"
"Hello. How may I be of help to you?" The receptionist asked politely. Stacy thinks she's beautiful, but sadly she's not gay.
"I am Stacy David and my colleague here is Abraham Jesse. We are from the DC Police department. We are to speak to the Mayor" Stacy said with a wink at her and the receptionist blushed tomato red and Abraham does feel good about it...is Stacy gay?
"I will inform him" after few minutes of calling the Mayor and enquiring, she directed them to the office. They took elevator to the last flow of the building. Stacy wonders why some humans like staying that up in the high. She for one has phobia for height but still it's ridiculous to her. They got to the office and knocked
"Come in" the voice boomed from behind the closed office door. Abraham opened the door and they got in "to what do I owe this surprise visit detectives?" He chuckles "please do have a seat" they sat down.
"Mayor we are here to ask you some questions concerning the death of William James"
"Shoot detective"
"How was the relationship between you and Mr William?"
"It wasn't a good one I must admit"
"Any threats during those periods?"
"Well...I guess few but then it wasn't something that should be taken seriously"
"When Mr William James took your clients from you because his business proposal to them was far better than yours, what was your reaction?"
"I was mad. He took some of the important clients of mine by accepting deals and contracts at a cheaper rate. It really hurt me but as time passed by I totally forgot about it"
" Alessia James accuses you of her husband's murder, what is your say in it?"
"I do never kill William even if he took all my clients. I am not a murderer"
"Are you so sure about that Mr Mayor?"
"What do you mean?"
"The last time you had an encounter with Mr William James you threatened to kill him if he ever tried to take any of your clients and business associates"
"That threat was out of anger but I do never hurt a fly"
"What about December 2000?" The Mayor is taken aback. How does she know?
"What about it detective?"
"Mr Mayor don't play dumb. Anyway, that's not the reason why we are here. Tell me what I need to know"
"I have told you all there is. There's nothing more to say"
"I don't believe that Mayor. How come amongst other business associates, you're the only one that every finger is pointing at?"
"I'm the special one I guess" he said with a snicker.
"I will be back Mayor. We will be back. Have a nice day" they stood up and left. Abraham always leave the questions for Stacy to ask. He adores it when she does. Whenever she is at what she knows very well how to do best, he thinks she's perfect. He really likes her. But does he even know that he does? So much?
The Mayor is conflicted after they left his office. How does she know? It was a very long time ago. Maybe twenty-two years now or there about. Something is not right! He screams in his head. "I hid everything so well! I know I can't find them and I haven't been able to forgive myself but it's in the past. I tried my best but there's no record of them at all" he spoke to himself, pain and regret visible in his eyes and face. His whole facial expression said it all. What did you do Mr Mayor?
