Elliot would glance at Hera every once in a while. Some time ago, never in his wild imagination had he ever imagined staying in the same room as her in this type of setting. It never crossed him. He might see her again, talk business with her, but not like this!

This was not a meeting. It was more like he was a kid needing to cram for the most important exam in his life. And his mother was here to make sure of that.

"This history book…" Elliot cleared his throat, pretending to keep his attention on the book he was reading. "What's the use of me reading an Asian history? I don't think it has something to do with the triads. In any case, I think I already know enough about the felons I'm catching more than you assume I do."

Elliot looked up at her. "And this medical book. Is it much more important than the handful of profiles you handed me?"

"No."
