Chapter Nine

Making my way back to the trailer, I see Kiara and Dev outside sitting at the table, it looks like Dev made pancakes.

"Where Zare?"

"Inside crying, she is very upset," Dev tells me.

I nod.

"Is that guy dead?" Dev looks shocked, his eyes wide.

"No, he has some life left," Chetan laughs.

Zare steps out of the trailer, her eyes puffy and red. The sight hurts me, seeing her so upset. I hate it. If only she would understand that I wasn't going to allow him to keep coming back harassing us. I know eventually she'll break and just go.

She looks terrified. I open my arms for her. "Come here."

She shakes her head.

"Zare," I step toward her.

"Did you kill him?" She looks at me, pointing to my shirt.

"No, he walked right out of her."

Chetan laughs.

I glare at him. "I needed to ensure he never came back. I told you I would never allow anyone to hurt you, and I kept that promise."

"Is he dead?" she repeated the question.

I shake my head. "Blady, he was injured, but still alive."

"And Cam?"

"Unharmed , I would never hurt a girl."

I open my arms again, "let me comfort you"."

"Take off that shirt first."

I did what she asked, tossing it on the floor.

She rushes into my arms, and I pull her body into mine. My neck is wet from her tears. I kiss her on the top of her head, and she grips me tighter.

I motion for Dev to finish the job comforting Zare. I want to cuddle with her, but I need some space. I need to separate myself from her. I'll give Chetan a few to figure out what he wants.

Dev approaches. "I am going to the river to wash off this blood.".

"Can I come?" Zare looks at me with those big brown sweet eyes. I want so badly to make love to her. I know she's starting to find comfort in my touch. And it pains me to have to say no.

"Stay with Dev, he'll take care of you."

"Ajay." I hear her crying. Damn, this really sucks, loving this girl
