Chapter Ten

I move towards the river, kicking up the dirt as I walk. What am I willing to do for this girl? I've already physically fought another pack member, beat up a total stranger. Ate many apples from the tree of knowledge.

Punching a nearby tree, the pain in my hand doesn't compare to the hurt of my heart.

What if this girl is my downfall? And Chetan, will he help protect her, like me? He doesn't know the words spoken by the tree. What if he decides to pursue her, will he understand how important it is to keep her in sight? I will always have to interfere with their relationship in some type of form.

The water feels good being splashed in my face. It makes me feel a little relaxed until I hear Chetan's voice behind me.

"Why did you leave Zare like that?"

I let out a breath of announce

"I am giving one week, I'll back off for a week, and you better have made your decision. She better be yours by then, or if not, she'll be mine."

Chetan laughs. "How generous."

I roll my eyes. "Zare, is she okay now?"

"She refused Dev's offer to cuddle." I feel my face breaking into a frown.

I know she wanted and needed me. I feel bad, I let her down.

"I'm not surprised."

"That she wanted your touch?"

"Then be there for her, Chetan."

"You act like it's so easy for me to leave, like I don't have legitimate feelings for Kiara."

I shrug my shoulders, like I seriously don't care about this.

"I warn you to not get involved with somebody who isn't your mate."

"And Zare's not yours."

"You're right, she's yours, but you're too busy entertaining her sister."

"Whatever, I'll tell you this right now at this point I am not leaving Kiara, I love her and I can't hurt her."

"Honorable."

"But I can't watch you with my mate."

"I will try to resist her as long as I can, but I'm not making any promises. The way she looks at, and needs me. Chetan, it's driving me crazy."

He picks up a rock and throws it in the river.

"I'm warning you that you need to establish your relationship with her, because I can't hold off for long."

He glares at me before walking away.

I know this fight with Chetan isn't over. I know we are moments from Kiara finding her rightful mate. And I know it'll be impossible for her to resist him. The only reason why Chetan is someone able to resist Zare is his core values at heart, he never wants to hurt women. He is one of the most decent guys I ever met, and I can honestly say that.

As long as I am near Zare, she is my priority. I will protect her no matter who's toes I have to step on. Maybe it's my love for her, maybe it's knowing her future, or possibly I have gone insane from the many apples I picked. Whatever the reason, I guess I don't care…
