Tunnel Vision

Once they got back into the kitchen once more, they looked back, watching as the man in grey turned a corner, appearing without any cleaver in his skull and his head back to normal, Marina noticed a big shelf toppled it over all by herself, just bashing into its side with her shoulder.

Which wasn't pleasant but she couldn't wait any longer than was minimally possible.

In the kitchen, Narissa's father was conscious but having trouble breathing the push must have had completely emptied his lungs forcefully, which had left him gasping for her while generally unwell since he had landed harshly.

The shelf that had toppled over blocked most of the doorway, only leaving a little bit visible, which was enough to make out the man's shoes as he stopped in front of the obstacles, the shelf hadn't fallen all the way and instead, leaned onto another piece of furniture, leaving in a diagonal position as some of the things inside of it were still falling out.

Marina was already had already opened the frontdoor, staring at his shoes, he had broken in and sent a grown man flying, he could definitely get through this shelf and yet, he didn't do it, he just stood still, as if expecting the shelf to just move out of the way by itself.

He seemed to turn around, doing so excruciatingly slowly, apparently turning his attention to something back there.

He stepped forward, thus getting further from the shelf before once again halting his step, his behavior was nonsensical as he then turned back to the shelf and walked through, the shelf and its remaining content exploded into splinters as if Marina had been welcomed to a terrible surprise party.

By then, Narissa had gotten her father and Gabrielle out of here, the blonde girl shielded her eyes before walking out into the streets, as what had been expected, sirens where sounding in the distance, they had even brought a helicopter, probably the same that was used in the search of the serial killings.

The authorities had been called for gunshots however, they wouldn't be expecting their culprit to be there and it was dubious whether there would be some if any women amongst them, so most wouldn't be able to see the entity walking toward her relentlessly.

The light from the helicopter and headlights turned the pitch black night into a startingly bright day, noticing the obscene amount of people arriving, the man in grey turned to the side and began walking into the worst possible direction.

Marina hadn't thought that this could be possible but she didn't want him to move away from her, she didn't want him to head back in the house, who knew what he would do? He hadn't focused much on anyone beside her until then, only pushing the one that turned him into mush once, doing the same to Narissa, without even striking her hard enough to keep her down.

He hadn't even paid any heed to Gabrielle at all, he had only ever tried to get to Marina, so seeing him break that rule he had been following fervently, to the point of allowing himself to be severely damaged, was completely unexpected and quite scary.

'Does he want me to try and stop him?' the young woman felt like he was baiting her, she scanned everything she could, ignoring the approaching headlights and the helicopter shining light on her.

The man in grey stepped through the front door, slowly moved his head across the place, setting his sight on a closed door, leading to a room adjacent to where he was, the front door lead directly into both the living room and kitchen, as they weren't separated, the kitchen on the right and living room on the opposite side.

He started walking over to that closed door, hearing some hushed voices, he noticed that the firearm that had been knocked out of the father's hands was missing, he reached for the handle and with the unusual speed he made use of when reaching for something, he made the barrel of the shotgun knock against the face of its holder.

His movements weren't that fast as well, they were simply much faster than his usual slugginess would imply, leaving anyone trying to fight him in close quarters confused even if they probably could have easily avoided such things coming from someone else.

Narissa bled profusely from her nose as it was mercilessly shattered before she could even think of pulling the trigger.

The man took the gun from her and just dropped it away, before grabbing her neck with one hand and lifting her up from the ground effortlessly.

The intruder felt a cold sensation against his nape, he looked down, seeing the point of a knife poking from his throat, he dropped the girl he was holding and turned to face who he was here for in the first place.

He grabbed her by the back of her head and forced her closer as he reached for the knife stuck in the back of his neck, twisting it around for a few moments before it was pulled out, sending a spray of blood all over her.

Letting go of it, he put his other hand against the front of her head and clenched both of them, any more strength and he would be crushing her skull, sending brain juice all over the place but he kept it just good enough so that it be incredibly painful.

As he did so, he leaned forward, slowly pushing the girl onto her back and onto the ground.

Ignoring the almost passed out father and daughter as he removed the hand on the back of her head, ready to start removing what was in the way.

𝘊𝘩𝘬 𝘤𝘩𝘬!

The entity recognised that sound as he had heard it when trying to lure someone to open the front door.

It didn't get to realise who was holding the shotgun before his whole head blew up like a watermelon in a destructive test.

His body slumped to the side motionless but what the barely conscious Marina paid attention to was the screeching Gabrielle, who had definitely dislocated her shoulder with her poor gun handling.
