There was supposedly a limit that had been shown by Joe when he used his Quirk which had a lot to do with the number of hooks that could be made using his limbs.
Another problem was the range of visibility he had along with how versatile the movements the hooks were when being manipulated.
It had been shown that the hooks could curve around his body at various angles to attack and defend him but that ran the risk of cutting himself if he was not careful.
Once the hooks started to curve toward one direction, they could not change direction again unless the form was cancelled and it was able to start curling toward that direction.
His hooks seemed to harden and become sharp as they took on their form which showed that the transformation varied depending on how far it had finished taking on its form.
If it was still in the process of being manipulated then it was not so solid but the completed form was a lot more durable.
Switching between the two states when forming a shape and trying to change it caused a slight delay each time there was a need to shift from one form to the next.
Each time that Joe defended himself and tried to land an attack was quite unpredictable at first but Butch soon got used to it after some close calls.
Butch found out that attacking from locations where there was less visibility was better for him since it put more pressure on Joe during the fight and required Joe to keep having to send his hooks around his body toward his back each time.
One of the main problems that Joe was having was that he had been unable to get back onto his feet while he was constantly barraged with attacks.
Joe had a body that was mostly similar to most humans he could change his arms or fingers into hooks so his physical capabilities were only to a level someone would reach from pure training.
Butch went in for an attack but adjusted his movements suddenly as one of the hooks curved around the body of Joe.
Butch adjusted his movements a little as he stayed out of the path it was curving around to while adjusting his position to strike again.
Another hook came toward him a moment later causing him to have to adjust his position again.
The first hook started to move once more as if retreating as it would begin to prepare for the next attack while the other was already striking.
That same cycle of movements had continued a couple of times already but Butch had already gotten used to it.
Butch adjusted his stance before turning his body as he sent out a powerful kick toward the back of Joe.
It was not the first hit he had landed so far but it was the best one that he had landed.
His confidence rose after avoiding a couple of close calls and being able to predict the pattern of the movements that the hooks made.
If the hooks curved around the body of Joe then they would continue to curve toward the same direction as they went inward.
That meant that once they missed their target, they would continue to curve toward that direction as they curved around the body of Joe or curved more toward him rather than curving outward.
The blindspot was made full use of but that was not the only advantage that Butch gained since he positioned himself there.
There was a limitation to the movements that could be made compared to what could be used if Joe was allowed to attack someone who was at his side or in front of him.
There existed one more attack that could be used if Joe was able to aim properly in a straight line and that was what Butch was trying to avoid.
Several of his attacks had been aimed toward disrupting the movements of the body of Joe especially when it came to the movements of his arms.
Butch did not know exactly how Joe was able to extend his arm similar to using a grappling hook but he did not want to find out.
If it looked like Joe was showing signs of trying to aim his arm toward something then Butch would not give him the time to do so.
A grappling hook or similar weapons could be used to be projected or thrown toward an intended target.
That target could be living and it could inflict an awful lot of damage making it difficult for the target to get free but that was not the primary use for one.
There were other ways to use hooks and one method was using them as a means of climbing since they could lock into place where they were thrown or fired.
Hooks could be used to hold something up or to pull it in but there was another use too that existed in other cases.
A hook could be used to pull the person or object toward the direction it was hooked onto if it was something similar to a grappling hook.
If Joe wanted to move to another location suddenly then he would surely try to aim for something nearby that could allow him to change his current position or even allow his escape.
