Chapter 5: Eyes

Sarah has always been an adventurous girl, but she wasn't that adventurous when she and her friend Fred went to the scene. What they found was so much more than they had ever imagined. To their surprise, they stumbled upon a police car, with several officers gathering evidence from an unsettling scene.

As Sarah and Fred approached the scene, their hearts raced as a chill ran up their spines. In the middle of the field, they saw a body, their classmate Bryce, Sarah's long time crush. It was clear that something terrible had been done to him; both of his eyes had been gouged out and the back of his head had been bashed. I looks like they bashed it in with a hammer.

Sarah and Fred looked at each other with shock and disbelief, both of them hoping against hope that it wasn't true, yet when they saw the state of Bryce's body, they knew that it was. The police began to ask them some questions, trying to get to the bottom of what had happened, but they did not have any answers.

As they watched the officials investigate, Sarah and Fred noticed a hooded figure in the distance, watching from just beyond the crime scene. They wondered at first if this was some sort of ritual, but when the figure began to depart, the two made a silent pact to follow.

They trailed the hooded figure for several miles, all the way to a dilapidated farmhouse deep in the woods. When they reached the house, Sarah and Fred were met by a group of hooded people, wielding knives and standing around a fire. They soon realized that these people were responsible for Bryce's murder, but before they could do anything, they heard the sound of a police car in the distance.

Scared and confused, Sarah and Fred ran back to their school, trying to process what had just happened. As they continued to speculate, Sarah and Fred came to the same conclusion; these hooded people had taken Bryce's life. All they could do now was to keep their promise of silence and try to mourn the loss of their classmate.
