Struggles of the Symbol

As everyone got up, the Ghost attempted to get up. His body ached, his mind was scattered, he wanted to show everyone he'd survived the fall, no it was more than that. A deep-rooted need to prove he could do it, something he'd done since he was a kid.

The Ghost pushed himself up out of the sand, his body trembling as he did, he bite his lip as he stood up, holding the screams of pain back behind a wall of teeth. He knew one unescapable truth, his time as the hero of the Star Spangled crew was running low, but regardless, everyone looked up to him, sought him out for safety.

The Ghost began to trudge through the sand headed for home, forgetting about his team. His mind plagued by demons that yelled louder than those cheering him on.

"I bear this, so my people, my friends, my family don't have to."

As the others took notice of the Ghost making his way in the sand, they rushed to catch up.

"He's determined to get home, I'll say that much about him." said the rebel leader as she stood up.

"It's something you have to be around a while to understand." said Daniel as he chased after his friend.

Meanwhile, the Oppergrubenfuhrer had begun to plot his revenge against the Ghost and the Americans who causally ruined New York.

"Did you find a way there or not!"

"Yes, Oppergrubenfuhrer, we made a way there."

"And for the request I made?"

"The serum is almost ready."

"Excellent, tell your team to be ready."

He left the building with a grin plastered across his face, he'd get his revenge, even if it cost him his life.

Back with the Ghost and the others, the Archive had picked up on their signals and dispatched helicopters to pick them up.

"Good to see you all again, especially you sir."

The Ghost was silent the whole way home. When they landed, they were greeted by loved ones and friends.

The Ghost scooped his wife into his arms and held her tightly.

"I thought something bad happened to you!"

"You know better than anyone, it'll take my enemies far longer to kill me."

Tears fell down both of their faces as they went inside. However, the heartfelt reunion was cut short, Nazis began pouring out of portals around D.C.

"EVERYONE INSIDE! HEROES MOBILIZE!" yelled the Ghost grabbing his sledgehammers, not realizing he was the only one rushing head first into danger.
