Question 3: Who am I actually?

"That party was so fun!" Angel-ssi said while jumping and fooling around.

"Mhm." I replied as I gazed at the moonlight shining upon us.

The party was over and everyone was heading back. We have a portal here that can teleport us.

"A lot happened today, huh?"

From lamenting over history to meeting an angel to winning free food for a year.

"Surely! A guy dumped me a precious girl like me for another, I met a cute devil, pretended to be a couple and even won a year's worth of prize for that!"

She's still a narcissist and what's with 'cute devil'?

"Hm... but.... can I ask you something?"

I'm not really sure about whether I should ask her this but I must.

"What do you think our relationship is right now? A friend? Or are we... you know?"

"Wow.... I didn't expect you to ask that... Let me think."

She had a really serious face for the first time and thought about it.

I'm fine with either. We can either start from friends and then slowly develop from there or we can start dating right away.

But.... it does feel a bit too soon.

Is it actually love in the first place?

"Say, Devil-nim."

"Yes?"

"What do you think love actually is? What in the world is love?"

"I..."

I felt like I knew. I mean don't we all know, like we have been hearing it from our childhood. It is feeling a special thing towards someone, way more than the word 'like' can describe. But what is love, exactly? When can we say we actually love a person? It might be easy to say if you love a person if it is an unromantic relationship, but when it comes to romantic relationship, it's hard to tell.

"I don't know what it is either. But, we can learn. Through our little communication birdie, let's continue to keep in touch, talk and express our feelings, all the while discovering our own definition of love. By the time we meet again, I'm sure we'll have the answer."

"You're right. Let's do this."

We flashed a smile at each other.

There was no need to rush. Its my first time with things like romance, after all.

Right at that moment,

Rrrriiiiiinnnnngggg..... Rrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnng....

My phone started ringing.

"Could you give me a minute?"

"Ah, sure."

I went a bit away from her and picked up the call.

"Captain Kim JeongYong. Report to the HQ as soon as possible."

"Yes sir"

The person on the call hung up.

Captain Kim JeongYong. 'What does that mean?' you might be wondering.

"Angel-ssi."

I went back to her.

"Yes?"

"I think I'm gonna have to leave first."

"Oh it's fine. I got a call and it seems I have to leave too."

"Okay. Thank you for accompanying me tonight."

"Your welcome~ And thank you too. Ah, I can't believe we didn't say THAT yet!"

"What?"

"Happy New Year!"

"Oh haha. Happy New Year to you too!"

We bowed to each other.

"Now... then. See you... later?"

"Yes...."

We stood in place, silent for a moment.

But, eventually we turned away from each other and went our ways.

I soon stepped into the portal and went in. In an instant I was teleported to the place I needed to go.

Ministry of National Defence, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

I approached the gate and the security there immediately saluted and opened the gate for me.

"Good work today."

"Yes sir, you too."

I headed straight to the Commander's office. The Commander was the one who called me earlier.

Now, while we have time, let's talk about myself.

I'm Captain Kim JeongYong in charge of Squad 001 of the Republic of Korean Armed Forces.

Squad 001 is the ace group of Korea's military. We excel in all sorts of task given to us and are in charge of the front lines.

Only the exceptionally talented people can enter Squad 001 and I, the Captain of this squad, am even more exceptional. I had to go through hundreds of trials and rough training to earn their trust and become the Captain.

We have a total of 7 members in our squad including me. One captain, one sergeant, one military doctor and four insanely strong men/women.

These days there are as many women in the military as there are men. Since everyone has mystics, we don't discriminate.

I eventually reached the Commander's office. I knocked.

"Come in."

"Captain Kim JeongYong, reporting sir!"

"Okay."

I went closer and stood in front of his desk.

"Any idea why I called you here? JeongYong."

"If you called me despite the holiday, I assume it is an attack or there are signs of attack from Terra Nova, sir."

"Correct. There are signs of attack on the coastal city, Busan."

"What? Busan? That is quite a bold move."

I was surprised. They are planning to attack such a big city out of nowhere?

"That's right. It indicates that they have some sort of secret weapon."

"I suppose so, sir."

The Commander sighed and said,

"Why are you using such a formal tone? There is no one here, you know?"

"We should mind our manners either ways, sir. Since we are in the HQ."

"Aish you damn goody two shoes."

"Language, Commander."

I glared at him.

"Ah, come on Joyo! I'm your dear Hyeong, you know?" (note: Hyeong is a term used by males to address older men)

"That is outside of work. And will people please stop calling me by that nickname?"

That's correct, the Commander is my older brother. Kim Ha-joon.

I have two siblings. An older sister and an older brother. They're twins. We already know my older sis who forced me to go to that party. Both are very troublesome and irresponsible.

"All jokes aside. What do you want me to do about this situation?"

"Its as usual Get your squad and head to Busan. Don't attack until they do first. But once they do, have no mercy."

The Commander gave out a chilling gaze.

"Yes sir"

"You are dismissed."

"Yes sir."

I went out of the office and leaned on the door.

Sigh...

I have been in the military since the age of 20 and now I'm 151, meaning I've been here for 131 years in total and 99 years since the war began.

The war doesn't seem like it'll end anytime soon. Its too late for peace between the two factions. The war can only end by one side winning.

Of course, I'm on Korea's side, and I am loyal and dedicated to my country, don't expect me to be a peacemaker.

"Let's go."

I hurried to my squad's dorm. It was the same as any other military dorms. Cots, lockers and a desk for each member. But there was one thing that bothered me.

"Where are the others?"

There was no one here. I'm sure they must've heard about the mission...

"Oh, wait."

There was a piece of paper on my desk and something was written on it.

"Captain, hurry up and get dressed! We are waiting in the jeep outside. By your dear squad members."

There was a little drawing at the end with a smiling face.

"Aish, these guys. Couldn't they wait?"

I opened the locker and got my military uniform out. Pitch black military shirt and pant. The opposite of Terra Nova's which was completely white.

I got dressed, took out my weapons and was about to head out, when suddenly...

With the gush of wind, a spirit bird appeared in the air.

"Is this... what I think it is? But we just parted tho... Is it something important, perhaps?"

I touched the bird and it immediately handed me a letter. I opened it in a hurry and read it.

"Hello, Devil-nim! I am now back at my place. This letter is being delivered so that you can get used to this sort of communication. So... you can tell me anything you want, anytime, Ok? By, your lovely angel."

I chuckled. So that's the case, huh?

"I should send a reply but damn, I don't have time."

It was at that moment, a little girl's voice resounded.

"Its fine! You can send voice messages, you know? Mystics have advanced!"

It was the bird speaking. I was so damn shocked.

"Wait, you can speak?!"

"I sure can! But I'm not sure if you should be speaking with me right now. Aren't you in a hurry? Hurry up and send a voice message!"

The bird flapped its wings ferociously.

"Okay! Okay! Goodness..."

"Can I start the recording?"

"Yes."

The bird exerted some sort of mystics onto me.

"Ok, Begin."

"Uh, so hello Angel-ssi. I have also reached my place safely. Thank you for being considerate by sending this letter. I am sorry I cannot reply with a letter, since I'm in a bit of a hurry right now. But... you can also tell me anything you want, anytime. Take care. By, your Devil-nim."

"Nice! So I will get going~"

"Oh thanks, bye"

The bird disappeared into thin air with a whoosh!

"Ah, damnit! I'm getting late!" I ran out of the room and rushed downstairs.

I was outside and saw a jeep before me.

"Ah, Captain you sure are late!" A certain girl immediately nagged me.

"Ah.. Captain we thought we'd for sure become grandpas and grandmas waiting for you, you know?" An arrogant guy followed.

The other members started complaining too.

"Jeez, I apologize. But I'm here now, right? Can we just go already?"

"Aight."

"Oki~"

"Sure."

"Let's go."

"Yes."

"Yes, Captain!"

And so, Squad 001 is out to tackle another mission.
