Question 4: Who is Lina Duarte?

The sound of heels tapping the ground could be heard.

"Where is that guy?"

I was currently waiting for the guy who invited me to the New Year's party. I just agreed to go out with him on a whim, but this sucks. Am I getting stood up? I should have stayed home....

That's when I saw...

"Hey gorgeous."

"Oh my, are you talking about me?!"

I was utterly disgusted. It was the guy who invited me to the party flirting with another girl! And what's with that 'Hey ,gorgeous'?! Who the heck says that these days?

Sigh.

"To hell with him. I'll go find someone else!"

I started walking around the hall ferociously trying to find the perfect guy.

"Ugh.... What did I expect? This is a couple's party."

I was tired and hungry so I went near the buffet.

"Ah.... They all look so delish."

While looking around the buffet, I noticed a man.

Hm? He looks like he's searching for someone but he also looks like the hot loner type. He's probably here because someone forced him lol. He will be fun to tease, heh.

"Boy, you don't have a partner yet?"

I asked.

He got extremely flustered and thought I was an actual angel. Now, isn't he cuter than expected?

I teased him a bit more and we decided to each other some sort of nickname.

'Uh.... how about you um... call me Devil-nim and I call you Angel-ssi?"

He sure is the simple type, huh? Well, either ways, I'm fine with anything.

Then, we heard about the prom event challenges. We weren't particularly interested, but then free food for one year was mentioned. So, we participated even though we weren't a couple.

The first event, we had to answer questions about each other and we read each other like a book, were spot on with our answers. We got to know more about each other without actually speaking about either of us.

The second event, well, it was more than awkward. Let's quickly forget about it.

The third event, I got to know his true feelings and he got to know mine. It was extremely pleasant.

While waiting for the results, we formed a communication pact with the help of my spirit bird friend.

In the end, we won. It was absolutely insane.

Now, present time, we were walking down the street and Devil-nim went aside to pick up a phone call. At the same time, I too got a phone call.

"Hello? Sergeant Lina?"

"Oh, Captain Mateo?"

"How was the party?"

"Amazing. I met a new guy over here. Ahem, honestly things are going good between us."

"Wow, finally. I'm free of all the whining now, right?"

"Yup, Captain! That aside, how is the mission going?"

"The one at Busan, right? It's going well. They just noticed us, and will most definitely fall into our trap."

"Nice. So what did you actually call me for?"

"Nothing much. We are holding a small party in our dorms, so hurry over."

"Eh?! Wait for me!"

I hung up immediately and was ready to go. Devil-nim came up to me and said that he needed to hurry back too. So we went our ways and I stepped on the portal.

In an instant, I was at our dorms. I ran up the stairs and went to my team's dorm.

My team, aka, Frontlines 001, consists of members who would take on most of the attacks and spend most of our time out in the battlefield fighting for Terra Nova. Our base is in Argentina.

I was the Sergeant of this team, Lina Duarte.

The one on call with me was Mateo Fernandez, the Captain and also my bestie.

Our team consists of one captain, one sergeant, one doctor and 4 strong mystic users. Just like any other military team.

"Huff... Huff... I'm finally here!"

I opened the door.

"Hello Sergeant!"

"Come in! "

"Welcome home."

"Hi!"

Four people appeared in front of me, playing some sort of business board game and eating snacks.

"I'm back"

I said and sat down.

"Where are the other two?"

"Ah, they're busy with their own stuff. Damn, probably with their boyfriend/girlfriend. And here we are, being single pringkles."

This guy speaking right now, is one of the 4 strong mystic users of our team.

Jose Herrera. Dark red hair with deep brown eyes.

"Oh, by the way, Sergeant Lina doesn't seem to be single anymore."

Captain Mateo Fernandez, purple hair with purple eyes.

"Ah we are not dating!"

"Yet. You said things are going well between you two."

"Ugh..."

"You can't do this to us, Lina!"

The person speaking this time was Eliana Abel. She was also one of our 4 strong mystics user. White hair with black eyes.

"Calm down, Eli. At least no whining from her anymore."

The one speaking with a serious tone right now is Romana Abel. Eliana and Romana are sisters. Romana is also one of our 4 strong mystic users.

"Ah, fine."

'Oh come on! Why does everyone say I whine a lot?"

The four of them retorted at once.

We all laughed, had fun and went to sleep in an hour.

I walked out to our little balcony.

I felt the chilly night breeze. And then,

A ferocious wind hit and at that place came my communication spirit bird.

"Can't get any sleep?"

"Yep."

"Then why don't you try sending that Devil guy a letter? Let him get used to this communication."

"Oh, good idea actually."

I got a paper and pen and sat down at my desk.

"Hm..... What should I write?"

"I should probably start by greeting him."

"Then, the reason for this letter?"

I sprinted awake.

"Tsk, tsk. I was planning on delivering the voice reply that Devil of yours sent, but I guess you don't want it?"

"Huh? A voice reply? Hurry up and let me hear it!"
