Ungrateful

Knocks came to the door, and Florence chose not to open it for them. Corey only turned in the direction of the door before saying goodbye to Corbin. She contained her tears as she opened the door for Milan and Owen. Since it was them, she failed to hide her cries.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen to Corbin?” Milan caught her and let her cry on him. Owen only walked inside to check the matter himself.

“He’s awake, Milan… but… he’s not moving. He’s not talking…” Corey cried louder. “Does he even remember me? What happened to him, really? You were the last one to see him awake…”

Milan grew quiet. That was right, but Lasair came to save him and Corbin. Honestly, he didn’t know how bad Corbin’s injury was when it happened. Could it be that Corbin was not supposed to wake up at the same time as Esperanza should? Did his request force Lasair to do it nonetheless?
