Chapter 13: Buzzing Around

Enough of the bug jokes. I need to focus on the information the old lady told me. Since this could be a bigger problem. A big demonic beast was spotted. The thing I have to kill. A praying Mantis. Those are D ranked monsters that are quick and can fly short distances.

They see us as food, but only attack us if we look weak. They typically try to scare strong people away. It is said not to turn your back on these creatures. Or you will become minced meat. If you back away while looking at it you will most likely survive.

We are definitely close to a war with the demonic beasts. I must do my part and do my job requests while slaying any other beasts. Beasts that I can slay of course. If I see an Absolute Thicc Boi Or Girl I will have to run.

I am smart enough to know that I shouldn't fight battles I can't win. I might seem weak to others, but I need to live on till the next day. Why die a useless death?

That is the mindset that I have now since I am no longer a cherry boy. I guess overcoming some aspects of your life helps change your perspective. It seems a bit odd to me that certain actions can do that, but whatever.

Wait, a minute! I don't have to fight alone! I have my beautiful demon! I feel bad about not summoning her recently. I forgot about her since I have been using my Card Caster skill.

Card…Caster? I could have used a deck this whole time? I have the ability to choose a world called Dragon World. Why didn't I remember about my skill on the way here? I spoke the skill's name out loud and selected Dragon World from my mind.

So many new cards. Some cards that look the same. Generic cards are generic. Meaning you can find them in any and all decks. Oh, crap! Look at these card effects. The costs are too damn high! 1 Card costs 7 mana. Another costs 5, but also requires a monster sacrifice.

I can only get one mana per 10 minutes. That means to activate the card that costs 7 mana I would have to wait over an hour. The costs of these cards are really rough on someone like me. Looking at these cards though. I can see why the costs are so high.

Dragon world is all about power. Instead of having many units on the field. The strategy for this world is to have quality units that stick around. For now I will charge one card into mana and draw. What a lucky draw. I drew a card that allows me to put the top four cards of my deck into mana.

"A Will Far Beyond." I said out loud. Only because to activate the spells from this skill is to say the name out loud. When I did, the card vanished. I saw a count that went from 1/20 to 5/20. Now time to use another set of mana one from within and summon my demon.

"The gate is open! The path here is open. A demon restricted and bound by rules from above can be broken." Another thing I have to say is to activate another skill. My mana that is not from my skill but from within me dropped by 320 points.

1,085 mana - 320 mana = 765 Mana remaining.

I forgot about the cost. The more mana I have the more it takes to summon her. Thankfully I have enough where I don't feel tired after summoning her. After seeing her I couldn't help but smile. Barbara's hair is so beautiful.

"Hello, master. How can I be used to further your goals?" Barbara said, holding her skirt out and giving a slight bow. I don't like how she said she was being used. I need to get over it and focus on surviving.

"Do you want to slay demonic beasts?" I asked Barbara. This made her annoyed and she gave a loud noticeable sigh.

"I will do whatever you demand me to do." She said but then got closer to me. She walked over but in my eyes she seemed like she teleported. She put her hands all over my face.

"Um Barbara, is there something on my face?" I asked while my voice was fading in and out depending on how my face was being touched.

"You are different somehow, master. Did you gain a new powerful skill?" She asked with a deadpan face.
