Eevee nuzzled into her with a soft whine while Elrond spoke softly, "Vali, you aren't happy about this."
"Answers are gained only for more questions to spawn," Vali looked at the spot Xen had disappeared from with a bitter feeling rise up in her chest, "And being told my time here is even shorter just because of my own body betraying me? I'm angry about my situation, but that's about all," She forced herself to look at Elrond, "We'll need to adjust things. Will everyone be able to handle it?"
"Our elder members," Elrond replied as his mind rand over the information she asked for, "Idril, Arwen, and Pippin are capable of handling the pace. Terra, Empress, Pele, and Galadrial will struggle though once they're used to it will be able to keep up. It's the youngest who will struggle the most,"
Vali followed along with Elrond's thought process and saw what he could as they both looked towards their pack. It would not be easy to keep up with this new demand especially if her inner fire matured any faster than what Xen predicted. She nodded to herself, "We'll just have to adapt as we always have while supporting those that need it. Magby will need the most support since he's the newest to this. Elrond, I need you to help me get it through Aragorn and Eowyn's thick skulls he's pack."
"I will. I'm sorry if I've been lax during the last two weeks since his joining of our team. I am still trying to adjust," Elrond apologized as he floated a little closer to her.
"It's fine, My friend," Vali smiled weakly at him feeling so tired of how today had gone, "I should've known it wouldn't have been as easy as before we went on our first mission. Next time tell me and I'll wait before attempting to add anyone else to the team,"
Elrond nodded to her before heading off to join the others.
Eevee padded over to the window of Vali's room and took a seat on the sill with a deep sigh feeling his very bones ache even after hours had passed since the last their last training session with the old man's pokemon. The slight breeze drifting in through the open window was nice against his fur. He looked out at the moon rising in the distant sky and felt a stab of regret. Everyone was working so hard and with the new schedule would reach levels beyond what they'd imagined far faster. The only problem was that unlike his fellow pack mates, he'd reach a point where there could be no progress even after refining the abilities he was capable of. As an Eevee, he was limited due to his form and only evolution would allow him to achieve further power.
Eevee knew Vali didn't care about him evolving which only made it more important to him that he did evolve for her if only to provide better protection. The only problem was what form could he possibly choose from the eight paths laid in front of him. The Jolteon path would give him speed and hard hitting with it's electric attacks. The Vaporeon's ability to meld with water and it's stamina would help in future battles. The Flareon path would give him great Defense and heavy hitting fire attacks. The Umbreon path has great defense and would give them a type they didn't have yet. The Espeon path would give them another psychic and more move coverage. The Leafeon path would give them more type coverage and it's a rather solid pokemon. The Glaceon path would again give them more type coverage and something their opponents wouldn't be expecting. Lastly would be the Sylveon path, it would give them more type coverage, an advantage they could use, and more moves they could possibly access.
Eevee could image himself as each one of his evolutionary forms.
A spiky furred Jolteon raced across the battlefield shocking their opponents while giving his packmates time to breath. A barking laugh left him as he dodged around attacks and easily lept across the rocky landscape towards their main targets.
A silky furred Vaporeon dissolved into a water flowing within a grate and slipped his way through the enemies hide out. Swimming alongside a full grown Bombur through the ocean while Vali held onto the larger pokemon.
A fuzzy Flareon guarded Vali's side along with a grown Aragorn ready to fire a Flamethrower at anyone who dared to try anything with their dear trainer. Fire flowed through his veins as he blasted various pokemon and ensured his pack was, the feeling still thrilled him since the day he'd evolved.
A silky furred Umbreon raced through the night undetected by their enemies as it moved towards the nearest rangers. A Shadow Ball erupted from his throat with more force than he'd ever felt before even as it slammed into the stomach of a charging Ursaring.
A silky furred Espeon basked in the sun as he walked alongside Vali and conversed with her mentally alongside their packmates. A psychic barrier curled protectively around their pack as a group of enemies emerged from the trees and his gem gleamed slightly even in the darkness from his place on Vali's shoulder.
A fuzzy furred Leafeon dug his paws into the ground as the sun beat across his back and filled him power while he charged up the attack Vali had commanded. The simple joy of walking alongside Vali through a forest and feeling the beat of life beneath his feet.
A silky furred Glaceon blew up a Blizzard in their enemies faces as they began to rush into the valley below. He led the way through an icy cave ensuring the path was strong enough to hold Vali's weight.
A silky furred Sylveon took down the red haired champion's pokemon as Vali began to scold the man about not doing his paperwork. The Sylveon grinned at the look on their enemies faces when such a 'cute' pokemon took them down with ease.
All of those perspective futures were something Eevee could see himself living and admittedly some were amusing enough to consider regardless of how much of a connection he felt towards them. He found himself looking towards Vali and the Flareon plush. The story Vali had told him about the Flareon she'd known and been saved by at the cost of it's life struck a cord in him. He wanted to protect Vali like that Flareon had. Not just because the Flareon had died, he wanted to protect Vali because she was his. So what path would be the best one to protect Vali with?
A low groan sounded from the bed and Vali shifted to cuddle the Flareon toy. Eevee watched her do so and considered his options for a long while before settling on one specific one as he got back into bed with Vali. He settled down while squeezing in between her and the Flareon plush. As his eyes shut and his mind began to drift, he began to think of his future...
A Flareon striding proudly beside Vali as she walked through the halls of the Indigo Plateau. Ensuring Aragorn was ready before allowing him to take the Fire Stone Vali was holding out, he watched their Prince of a King finally be crowned. Flareon blasting various enemies with flames and ensuring they knew not to get up again. A fire burning within his very core that matched Vali's own and finally being able to feel just that bit more of a connection to her that he craved so much. Vali hugging him as Balto, Smaug, and the others gathered around them to watch a sunset bloom across the sky from a mountain that he didn't quite recognize. Vali whispering a name that he'd never heard before in his life though it resonated with him and he knew it would be his once he took this form.
