Chapter 8 - Unexpected Meetings - Part 4

Extending my hand, I helped the young boy, who was just about the same height as myself, up from the ground. He gave a small response.

"Could you have run into me any faster?" he exclaimed, pointing to a welt on his head. "You left a mark the size of a quarter! Ouch!"

"Haha, sorry about that," I chuckled, curious about how he knew about a quarter. Before I could ask, he interrupted, saying, "Don't worry about it. We have to be—"

Cutting us both off, the Dragon/Bat hybrid creature came to a sudden stop about 10 feet from me.

"The boy just screams out, stating, 'What the actual hell is that!'"

"Oh, this is what I fell off before colliding with you," I explained, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Seeing him still confused, I simply said, "It's a long story," and headed over to help Lily to her feet.

"How are you feeling?" I asked her, concerned for her well-being. "Did you get dizzy or anything? You seemed to have blacked out before falling."
