Chapter 27

"But it doesn't eradicate the chance of us getting scattered across dimensions, we'd still have to make use of our cores to keep ourselves safe." Vage continued his explanation.

"One more question", Rode called, "is it a cannon or handheld ?"

"Handheld", Vage replied, "it may be a microbe compared to the Trail Disector, but they are on par when in action, even in the palms of a man."

"Talking about the man", Rode pointed out, "I can see he's taking a break."

"Don't underestimate Thorace", Vage checked, "he never runs out of fire."

Thorace kneeling on his battleboard descended to the deck of the Mace, panting from the effort he had gave and the strain it had caused him, he nevertheless had the fire within him to keep forging his way forward. So long as the Trail Disector was in the hands of the Feudal Order he was going to keep battling until it was finally his.

"Sorry for coming late !" A voice called from above. "I had to do some background research before getting into the conflict."

Thorace smiled on recognizing who it was, he knew that he finally had company.

The dust and smoke cleared away to reveal the Talon with Vage Verzak and Rode standing at its bow. Staring at the battlefield and seeing the destruction before him, Vage couldn't help but marvel at how long Thorace had been keeping a solid front against the combined forces of five pirates belonging to the Feudal Order. Stepping onto his battleboard, accompanied by Rode, they both descended, landing on the deck of the Mace.

"I hope you can still get on your feet", said Vage, extending his hand, "because the real battle is about to begin."

"I can take more of it", Thorace replied clasping arms with Vage then rising to his feet, "even though it never ends."

"That's the spirit of a cosmic pirate", Rode encouraged, "how about you Trident buddy ?" He called to Trident who was still soaring above them in his cosmic form, "I hope you can go for another round or do you want a sub ?"

"I can go on !" Trident boomed. "But I'll be glad to have you join in the fun, it's been a long time since we last fought as a team."

"Quite generous", Rode replied, "that's not the Trident I know, one who would like having the fun all to himself."

"Get your kitty paws up here and let's battle !" Trident fired, reenergized. "I'm starting to itch for another round."

Staring at the Talon hanging high in the sky, Norgus frowned, knowing that of they didn't fight harder, with Vage now joining forces with Thorace, there was a chance that they might lose.

"Vage Verzak !" Shev gasped. "I thought these cosmic pirates fought solo."

"One can never tell what they are up to", Zorg sneered, "I bet Thorace was the one who had invited him. You don't think he would have just stumbled upon us from nowhere."

"That doesn't matter !" Norgus yelled, his fist slamming the rails of the battlecarpet on which they stood, "what we have to do is make sure that they don't spend another second alive !"

Both cosmic pirates were now charged to continue their battle, they formed a formidable force working together and as always, they were ready to take the enemy headon.

"We'll need this." Vage said, handing over his newly designed weapon to Thorace who held it with his right hand.

"What is it ?" Thorace asked.

"Call it the Leash." Rode answered.

"Instead of trying to bombard it with energy", Vage continued, "we're going to take it own energy core from it."

"And you think your new toy can do the trick ?"

"Of course", Vage affirmed, "but we still have to make sure that we don't decay in the process."

"It's a risk worth taking." Thorace agreed.

"Rode, are you ready ?" Vage asked.

"I'm always battle ready." Rode replied, his eyes glistening gold.

"Well then Vage", Thorace said, "I think it's time you had sent him soaring."

A configuration of geometric shapes took form before Vage who disintegrated their formation with his palm, creating another configuration which blazed, resulting in the quaking of the astral skies, heralding that storm of lightning as that enflamed blackhole erupted, its waves rising to the skies and its eye blazing white.

"Cosmic Rode soar !" Vage ordered.

"And soar I shall !" Rode roared as he took to the skies, his being blazing like a rising comet , he bore itself into the womb of this blackhole, making it tremble as its waves frothed with lightning. Rode's roar echoed through the distance, making the mountains reverberate, and when he came down, he descended like a storm of fire and lightning.

"So you've finally shown up !" Said Trident, his voice thundering across the distance.

"You're seeing me, aren't you ?!" Rode's reply boomed.

Norgus was mad, creating that configuration which sent the core of the Trail Disector blazing again, it unleashed another surge of energy, not a halo, this time, it was a sea of fire.

"I shall see how you all can withstand this !" Norgus yelled to the thundering skies.

"I think he's going crazy." Said Vage.

"Crazy with fury", Thorace laughed, "we'll just have to make sure to calm him down before he really blows himself into pieces." Pointing the Leash forward.

"True indeed comrade." Vage affirmed, pointing his Leash as well.

An aureole came from both Rode and Trident, falling upon their masters, it illuminated the entire battlefield with its electrifying radiance. With the Trail Disector's storm coming like a tsunami, it destroyed everything that stood in its way as it came upon Vage and Thorace like a falling world of flames.

"Are you ready to take it all in ?!" Vage yelled.

"I'm ever ready mate !" Thorace screamed his reply.

The crescent shaped nozzle of the Leash in their hands flared of blue, unleashing two orbs which tore straight at the storm ... and they collided.

Those black cracks tore their way over Vage and Thorace's arms, making their eyes blaze in a cerulean sea of rage. Both sides raged, their cores resisting being dominated by the other and those contrasting waves of blue and red engulfed the entire battlefield, resulting in those seismic bursts of flames.

Rode and Trident roared to the astral skies, their energetic cores merging with those of their masters, they created an unbreakable wall of resistance as they consumed the Trail Disector's storm Into their being, restraining themselves from being scattered into atoms across infinite dimensions of nothingness.

"How does it feel brother ?" Rode asked.

"The way it feels to fight !" Trident gave his earthshaking reply, and the distance thundered, quaking and trembling with the power they were now taking in, their beings steaming and blazing with their cores raving to infinity.

Thorace felt the overwhelming power of the Trail Disector's field trying to pull every inch of him apart, but he held on, knowing this was how they lived, always holding on, in order to rise stronger than before. Closing his eyes and allowing his consciousness to flow with the resistance, he now battled from the subconscious realms of his mind and it awoke.

Was it a dream or was he actually seeing it ? that was his predicament, a predicament which didn't matter to the vision enacting itself, all it cared about was coming to life and it came in its full glory.
