"What's happening?" Wu Lina questioned, startled by the deafening blast.

"It seems like the chaos core crystal just detonated," Xiao Se explained, his face mirrored her shock.

"Does this mean..." Wu Lina started, her voice trembling so much she couldn't complete her sentence.

"It means he's responsible for luring the storm serpent here," Xiao Se finished for her.

Upon hearing this, Wu Lina whirled around to face Chen Wei, who was visibly shaken by the revelation.

"You abandoned him to face the storm serpent alone?" She seethed, her teeth gritted with fury as she glared at Chen Wei, who lowered his gaze in shame.

He'd willingly played the role of bait intending to impress Wu Lina, but instead of admiration, he'd only earned her scorn and contempt.

No sooner had he begun to flee than the storm serpent pursued him, its speed seemingly amplified.
