His miserable existence continued until one fateful night when he met his demise due to unforeseen circumstances.

Alex halted in his tracks when he heard these words. Spinning around to face Chen Wei, a look of astonishment crossing his features, he exclaimed, "Wait, what duel?" His voice was laced with shock and confusion.

Chen Wei's expression mirrored Alex's surprise. He blinked at Alex, stuttering out incredulously, "Wait, have you forgotten?" There was a pause, a moment of disbelief.

"Forget what?" Alex retorted, his patience thinning.

He had only just been asked the same question by Elder Zhen, and now Chen Wei was repeating it. The repetition was grating on his nerves.

"Your duel with Zhong Jie, have you forgotten about that?" Chen Wei's tone was marked with disbelief.

Upon hearing this, the penny dropped for Alex. Everything started to make sense. Today was the day the duel he had challenged Zhong Jie to was scheduled to take place.
