The Library: Discussion

"Hello again everyone!" We're back! After like, what, a month? We're back! (ToT) "Yes, The Writer has finished playing his game and has let us upload again, thank the gods. Speaking of which," Today's chapter is a bit unique, as we're not going to be teaching you about the lore—though you'll still get some lore bits. "This chapter is about you, the readers, settling something between me and The Narrator, that being," Should the God of Poetry be able to fight!? "We argued about this briefly last time, and today, we're going to settle it. I'm on the side that, being the God of Poetry, Larnicious should not be required to be able to fight," While I say that he should! He's a god, and gods—no matter what they are the god of—should be able to fight!

"So let us begin. Narrator! Set the stage!"

We are in the discussion chamber of The Library, a rather cozy area despite the name. The walls are lined with towering bookshelves, their golden inscriptions softly glowing under the warm candlelight. A massive, ornate table sits at the center of the chamber, polished wood reflecting the flickering flames of the hovering lanterns above. Plush chairs, ridiculously overdesigned for comfort, are positioned on either side, where we take our seats. Around us, various objects float—cups of steaming tea, trays of snacks, delicate musical instruments, and even a few quills idly twirling in the air, ready to jot down anything of importance. The entire place radiates that mix of refined intellect and chaotic magic you'd expect from a room meant for 'discussions'—though I highly doubt this is going to stay civil for long.

"Alright, why don't you go first, Narrator? Tell us why you think the God of Poetry needs to be able to fight."

Okay! rubs hands together We all know what gods are, right? Powerful beings that represent certain concepts, emotions, ideas, and the like. Examples? The God and Goddess of War from Greek mythology, the God of Thunder from Norse mythology, all that jazz. Gods are powerful. In The Dark Novels, they're invincible, only able to be harmed by those who possess the Godslayer gene, Godslaying weapons, or are of equal power. Facing a god without any of those factors should make you feel powerless—or at least it would if not for the damn God of Poetry being a weak little shit! ヽ(`Д´)ノ

He can't fight, he can't defend himself, and he's a complete laughing stock in the sect he belongs to! Sure, you still can't hurt him due to the whole invincibility thing, but he can't do anything to stop you either! If you put your hopes in the God of Poetry, you put your hopes in a failure that will always let you down!

"Okay, so that's his argument. Now it's time for mine, and you all know that I will lay out proper arguments rather than the stream of hate that The Narrator is."

Heh, go ahead, we all know I'm the favorite between us two. "Keep telling yourself that, Mr. Narrator. Now, where to begin… While I do agree that the God of Poetry is weak and cannot be trusted to fight for you physically," Hah! I'm winning this easy. (・∀・)"He can still be relied upon emotionally. Poetry is one of the oldest forms of human expression, an art form that has existed for millennia, shaping civilizations, inspiring movements, and comforting souls. A single verse, a carefully crafted line, can reach into the depths of a person's heart, far more deeply than any fist ever could."

"Poetry has the power to move armies, to stir revolutions, to provide solace in the darkest times. Words can break people, and they can mend them. Larnicious isn't just some passive observer with a fancy title—he embodies an art that transcends time, one that exists beyond the battlefield but can still influence its outcome. He may not fight with a sword, but his words can sharpen one. He can rally those who do fight, bring hope to those who are faltering, and inspire those on the brink of surrender to stand once more. Strength isn't always in how hard you can hit, but in how well you can lift others up, and that is where his power lies."

Big whoop, he's still the laughing stock of his sect despite all that. "Sure, but you neglected to mention that it's all in good fun. Yes, they poke fun at him, they tease him, but it isn't out of disdain—it's camaraderie. Despite all the jokes at his expense, the other gods in his sect still value him as a friend, a central part of their group. No matter what challenges they face, they know that Larnicious will always be there to lift their spirits with his words. He doesn't need to fight when he can provide something just as vital—support, inspiration, and the strength to carry on when things seem hopeless."

Sure, whatever, I agree that morale support is important, but still! Being able to fight would help! What if every other god in his sect is down, and he's the last one standing? What then? What's he gonna do? Write up a verse for the enemy? Great, now they get to hear some poetic final words before he gets obliterated—not exactly helpful!

"If they're up against something strong enough to take down every god in his sect, do you honestly think him knowing how to throw a punch is going to change the outcome?"

Well, even if that's the case, at least if he tried to fight back, that would be something! But he can't do that, can he?

"Sigh. You don't need to be a fighter to fight back. But I already know my arguments aren't going to change your mind, so we leave it up to you, readers—who do you agree with? Let us know in the comments."

Also, don't worry, we'll get back to doing actual lore chapters eventually, it's just that anything coming up right now would be a spoiler for the story. So yeah, anyway, it's been great doing another chapter after so long. "Yes, it has. I missed doing this with you." Yeah, yeah, don't get all sappy on me. Anyway, goodbye everybody, see you next time—whenever that is. "Goodbye, and happy learning."
