Chapter 37: First brick kiln

Oliver woke up early in the morning, He can feel soft flesh of Emily on his chest, this makes him feel refreshed and energized. After admiring Emily beauty for some time, He went for his morning routine that involved exercises to keep his body fit and agile. After completing his exercises, he made his way to the dining hall where his family was already gathered for breakfast.

The aroma of freshly baked bread and brewed coffee filled the air as Oliver took his seat at the table. He exchanged warm greetings with his parents, siblings. They shared stories and laughter, enjoying the simple pleasures of family bonding.

Once breakfast was finished, Oliver excused himself and made his way to the soap factory, where his first experiment with cement had taken place. As he entered the factory area, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The sight that greeted him surpassed his expectations.

In the corner of the factory, there stood a three-foot-tall wall made entirely of cement. Its sturdy structure and smooth finish spoke volumes about the potential of this new material. Oliver approached the wall, running his hand along its surface, admiring the strength and durability it possessed.

He examined the wall from every angle, ensuring that it had been constructed properly. The cement had set perfectly, and there were no visible cracks or flaws. Oliver felt a surge of pride and satisfaction, knowing that his experiment had yielded successful results.

Oliver called over his workers and gathered them around the wall. He praised their hard work and dedication, acknowledging their contributions to this milestone achievement. After praising them for time, he called two construction worker with robust physic. Instructed them to hit wall with hammer with all there force.

Worker did what Oliver asked, they pick up the hammer and start hammering the wall. They were astonished by the fast that, the wall which was made yesterday gets to much sturdy and solid. It is like they are hitting uniform rock. After some time one of the Worker spoke,

"my lord this wall is miracle of God, I have never seen such a sturdy wall in my 20 years of construction life. You have my respect young master" With this said he bow to the Oliver, following his lead everyone of the worker bow deeply to Oliver.

Looking at this seen Oliver got emotional, he did this all because of own selfish reason but today he can see the misery of this construction worker and there lifestyle. Oliver thought, 'If I can bring some comfort in there life, then I should do so.'

"Rise all of you, I will invest in construction industry and turned our barony upside down. if you have your family member, friends, who are looking for work then call them to work from tomorrow. They can be male or female it doesn't matter to me, I will pay them handsomely." Oliver said in single sentence. He turned , started walking towards his residence.

Oliver's mind was abuzz with plans and possibilities as he contemplated the next steps in his grand vision. The success of his cement experiment had opened up a world of opportunities, and he knew that the time had come to bring his dreams into reality.

One of his immediate goals was to establish the merchant union headquarters, a symbol of unity and prosperity for the merchants of Carraway Barony. He envisioned a grand building that would serve as a hub for trade and commerce, a place where merchants could gather, conduct business, and support each other's endeavors.

To begin the construction, Oliver recognized the need for bricks, a fundamental building material that would complement the strength and durability of the cement. chipping a stone is very ineffective process, usually it leads to a delay in construction. He decided to build a brick kiln, a structure where clay would be fired and transformed into sturdy bricks.

After coming inside residence, Oliver summoned his father's trusted advisors and skilled workers to discuss the plans for the brick kiln. He describe them about kiln making process by looking at all the information collected by AI chip. After understanding the concept of new kiln everyone scoured the surrounding areas in search of a suitable location, one that offered access to ample clay deposits and was easily accessible for transportation.

Oliver's attention turned towards map of barony. He envisioned a kiln, strategically located near the banks of the majestic River Danube, just a mile away from the capital.

The choice of this location held immense significance. The proximity to the river ensured easy access to water, a crucial resource for both the production of bricks and the operation of the kiln. The river's steady flow would provide a continuous supply of water for mixing clay, keeping it moist and pliable.

Oliver and his team embarked on the task of finding the ideal spot along the riverbank for the kiln. They searched for a location that offered ample space for construction and was close enough to the water's edge for convenient transportation of materials.

After careful exploration, they discovered a suitable site, a gently sloping area that provided a panoramic view of the flowing river. It was an idyllic setting, where the tranquil waters of the Danube intertwined with the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape.

The construction process began, The foundation was laid, and the kiln structure began to take shape. Oliver's workers meticulously arranged the bricks, ensuring the kiln would withstand the test of time and the elements.

It is been 3rd day Oliver has been observing construction of kiln, With the kiln nearing completion, the focus shifted to preparing the site for operation. Channels were dug, connecting the kiln to the river, allowing water to flow directly into the kiln area. This would facilitate the mixing of clay and provide a source of water for cooling the kiln once the firing process was complete.

As the finishing touches were added, Oliver eagerly anticipated the moment when the kiln would come to life, producing the bricks that would contribute to the growth and development of Carroway Barony. The sound of the river's gentle flow provided a soothing backdrop, reminding him of the abundant resources and natural beauty that surrounded his ambitious endeavors.

With the kiln complete, Oliver's attention turned to the logistics of transporting raw materials to the site. He established a system of barges and boats, enabling the efficient delivery of clay, sand, and other essential components required for brick production. These materials would be carefully loaded onto the vessels and transported along the river's meandering path to reach the kiln.

Oliver has deliberately constructed kiln of larger size so that it can satisfy the huge demand of barony. He has lot of money now. He want to built everything as quickly as possible. He does not have machine to help him in this task. but he has manpower and money, with this he will definetely reduce time of developmental activities. If demand for worker can't be satisfied from capital, he also thought about buying lot of slave. Yes in this era slaves are reality. Oliver was shocked after finding out this fact. but he is not messenger of God who will solve everyone's problem. He will use everything to his advantage. One fact is that very few slave can be seen in there barony because there barony is not prosperous. But near capital city and in some of Duke area slavery is rampant.

Oliver came back to reality , As the first bricks emerged from the kiln, Oliver's excitement grew. He marveled at the high-quality and uniformity of the bricks, a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication of his skilled workers. These bricks would soon be transformed into magnificent structures, contributing to the beautification and expansion of the capital city.

The sight of the kiln, standing proudly near the river, became a symbol of progress and innovation. Its presence served as a reminder that Carroway Barony was not only a land of fertile fields and thriving trade but also a place where the foundations of a prosperous future were being laid, brick by brick, kiln by kiln.
