Eleven

I walk outside the school. I see Zare and her douchebag boyfriend Brody. Just because I was dating her sister didn't make me feel obligated to talk to her.

Glazing down at my phone, I realized it was a little after five.

"What's up Chetan?" I hear Brody say.

I make sure to respond with my shittiest face. When I don't like someone, I don't speak to them, period.

Moving toward the school parking lot, I see my dad's car. I roll my eyes.

My feet march towards his car. He looks upset.

"Chetan, can you please just come home for dinner tonight?"

"That was a pretty smooth move, telling the coach I never come home like seriously Dad, how am I going to explain that?"

"Sorry, my emotions got the better of me. You're not fully in the pack yet, spend time with your family for a little while before that time happens."

I nod.

"Okay, I'll follow you over."

He grins.

"Mine if I take a friend?".

"Dyani?"

I roll my eyes at the name. "No Kiara, and don't seem disappointed that I have a new girlfriend in front of her."

"Isn't that one of those wild, trouble making twins?" His face looks shocked.

I chuckle. "No, you're referring to her twin sister Zare. Kiara is a good girl, so don't scare her off."

My dad makes a halo over his head.

I wait outside Kiara's house in my pickup truck. It took a little convincing to get her to come. She's so dang shy. I don't know why my parents wouldn't like her, they like Dyani and she's a literal train wreck.

She walks outside, looking like her normal self. She wears a plaid brown t-shirt and a black skirt. I smile at the glasses that took up her entire face.

The drive to my house wasn't too far. I really didn't realize that we lived right around the corner from each other. I practically grew up next to them. I park in front of my house, and I just realized how long it's been since I've been here, and how much of my time has been devoted to Sandy Shores. I rarely even see my parents anymore. Like damn, how am I going to dedicate myself to Kiara?

"What if your parents don't like me?" I see she's not just asking a question like she's seriously scared.

"Kiara, they're going to love you," I brush my hand against her cheek.

"I am not nearly as beautiful as Dyani." She shyly looks up at me.

I raise my eyebrow at her. "You don't seriously think that?"

She nods.

I bring my lips to her neck, she giggles as I kiss it.

"You're more beautiful than any girl I've ever seen."

She wraps her arms around my neck. I rub my nose against hers.

"Come on, let's get this over with."

I move over to her passenger side door and open it for her, she gently takes my hand. I hope this is the only girl I ever bring home for my parents to meet. I think she's such a class act and I'm happy she's mine.

We walk inside hand in hand. The house already smells delicious. To say my mom was a good cook was an understatement. I don't think I can really name a better cook if I sat and thought all day.

"Chetan." She rushes to give me a hug.

"I am sorry mom, I've been away." I feel like such an ass seeing how upset she was. I know my mom loves me more than anyone in the whole entire world.

She looks at me, and I wipe a fresh fallen tear from her deep brown eyes.

"Just keep coming back."

I nod. Not really sure that was the truth.

"Mom, this is my girlfriend Kiara."

Kiara smiles. I can already tell my mom likes her. What's not to like? She's beautiful and smart.
