Thirteen

The last and final big game was tomorrow. I can't believe tomorrow will be the last time I play football, the last time I put on that number 15 Jersey and walk out onto the field and give everything my all.

I sit in my final class of the day.

"Good job Chetan." The professor drops my first 100% on my desk.

I smile. Lifting up my test, I feel proud. I flashed my test score to Kiara. She smiles at me, giving me a thumbs up.

What can I say when my study partner is the smartest prettiest girl in the school?

We listened to a lecture until the bell rang. Putting my notes in the folder, I look up to see Kiara has already moved out of the classroom. That's weird.

I move into the hallway to see Dyani, Adam, and to my surprise Brody.

Talking to her by her locker. I feel myself already getting protective, and I don't even know what they're saying.

"How do you feel being Chetan's little bet?" Dyani taunts, and

Moves her hair around her finger. I hear perfectly now, stepping a little closer.

I see Kiara look upset, I know she was trying to hide back tears.

"He didn't actually like you, I bet him that he couldn't get into your pants in a month," Adam laughs.

"I am sure he did enjoy himself with you, it's always fun taking a girl's virginity," Brody laughs.

"I know you're lying, because Chetan and I haven't yet."

I start to approach them. I let the conversation happen, just building up more anger to smash their face in the locker.

"Chetan, you haven't popped her cherry yet," Brody laughs, playfully punching me in the shoulder.

"You think Zare would appreciate you sitting there making fun of her sister," I eye him.

"No, so don't tell her."

"So don't tell her." I feel the anger hit my face, and the sweat building up in my hands from my fist being clenched so tight.

Kiara grabs my arm. "It's fine."

I bring my fist to his face, punching Brody. He falls to the ground, I kick him forcefully in the ribs. His whimper in pain brings a smile to my face.

I feel Adam grabbing my arm, and I haven't forgotten him. Grabbing him by the shirt, I forcefully threw his face first into the locker. It was enough force to put a huge dent in the locker, and the bang rattled down the hallway.

I kneel down to both men who are laid out on the floor. "It'll be wise to stay away from my girlfriend."

I see Dyani's mouth dropped open. She's a little brat.

"Oh and Dyani, the difference between lust and love. I actually love Kiara, which is why we haven't." I see tears falling down her cheek. I know my statement wasn't true, I know I actually loved her, but she literally just pissed me off.

Teachers start trying to help Brody and Adam, and I know tomorrow I'll be sitting in the principal's office. More than likely expelled or kicked out of school.

Kiara was slight as we walk out of the school.

Once in my car, I see she was crying.

"Kiara," I gently rub her cheek.

She looks at me. "Was there some type of bet?"

I couldn't help the laugh that escapes my lip from the ridiculousness.

She crosses her arms over her chest. Clearly, my laughter has aggravated her.

"Kiara, no. I fell in love with you all on my own."

I open my arms. "Come here." She eagerly takes her place in my arms.

I run my fingers through her hair. "I love you, and I will never let anyone hurt you."

She looks up at me. "I love you too Chetan", her words sent shivers down my spine.
