Fourteen

Kiara and I walk into Sandy Shores hand in hand. I see Ajay sitting around the fire. He seems upset about something.

"What's wrong?" I look at Ajay. He looks devastated. His eyes were red and swollen.

"Nora passed away," Kabir tells me.

I instantly feel bad, I can't imagine losing your mate.

"I am sorry bro." He nods in my direction.

"Chetan, what's this about fighting in school?" Alpha Kabir barks at me.

"Now's not the time to discuss it."

Kabir's face turns red. "I say when Chetan."

I blow air from my mouth. I am starting to get annoyed, but want to respect Kabir.

"Sorry Alpha."

"What happened?" he yelled at me.

"It was my fault he was fighting because of me," I see Kiara start crying.

Kabir's face softens.

"The boys were saying awful things to her, I couldn't let them get away with it."

"Next time you get into a fight, you'll be chopping wood all night," he yells.

I nod .

I see whom I believe to be Lizzy. She storms out of Dev's tent. Her face was red with her hands on her hip.

"Lizzy, get back here," he says.

"I told you I loved you, and you can't say it back."

"Look, I told you that I don't get into committed relationships."

"I don't buy it, you don't have feelings for me." I see tears streaming down her face.

"Come here," Dev says, opening his arms to her.

"Say, you love me Dev."

He looks at her, and I see the pain in face. Dev clearly has feelings for this girl, and honestly, I think she's the only one that he slept with more than once.

Lizzy, I can't."

She storms off. My eyes watch as Dev punches a nearby tree. " Damn it," he yells.

Kash,Kabir and Kanan watch wide eyed.

"You're going to have your hands fool Ajay," Kash laughs.

I move over to Dev's tent. He was getting ready for a show.

"You okay bro?"

He nods. "I feel like an ass, honestly I could have said I love you. If I didn't hurt her now, I would have when I found my Mark mate. I guess I would rather now."

I nod. "I understand."

I believe that's why Dev truly doesn't get into a serious relationship. He wants to wait for his mate. It's probably the right thing to do.

"You're coming to the show, it's my last."

I smile. "You up for a party Kiara?"

Walking into the bar, it was already rowdy. Girls dancing, people smoking, and I instantly hope I didn't make a mistake taking Kiara here. Dev sits with the other band members smoking a cigar. I walk up to the waiter, ordering a rum. Kiara gets tea.

I see Zare approaching, I don't want anything to do with her. "I am going to be at the table." I kiss Kiara on the cheek.

Taking my seat, I drink down my rum quicker than I should. I know I shouldn't get shit faced here, I am solely responsible for Kiara.

I watch her dance with Zare, I smile. She seems to be having fun.

"This is Dev's last show, he's leaving us to be a farmer," the singer says in the microphone.

Everyone laughs.

"You're never going to let that go," Dev says, still puffing on his cigar.

"And just to honor your career choice, we're going to sing Old MacDonald."

"Fucking assholes," Dev laughs and starts playing the drums.

They seriously sing Old MacDonald. It was a hoot.

I feel arms around my neck. Looking up, I see Dyani's blue eyes looking down at me.

" Hands off " I gently move her hand off me.

"I know you're drinking, why don't you loosen up and come to the bathroom with me?"

"I am not that drunk Dyani," I laugh.

I see Kiara watching us. She was clearly upset. I stand up from my seat.

"Chetan, I am sorry."

"Dyani, it's over"

I see her eyes hit the floor. I did feel bad. I don't want to hurt her.

I lift her face with my hand. "Look, I didn't mean what I said earlier, you know I loved you, but we had nothing in common besides sex. I think we grow apart."

She nods. "And Kiara?"

"I am in love with her."

She nods.

Looking up and searching for her, I noticed that I couldn't see her anywhere in the bar. I frown. Shit.

"I have to go."

I move away from Dyani. My eyes made my head realize Kiara wasn't inside anymore.

I move towards the exit, and I see her standing against the wall. There was another man speaking to her. He was clearly flirting with her.

I make my way towards them. "Get out of here." I lift my eyebrow to the other guy, who takes off.

"I am sorry." I stand in front of her, and kiss her on the forehead.

"So you worked things out with Dyani?".

"Seriously Kiara?" I feel myself getting pissed.

I turn to leave, but I feel her grab my arm.

"I think I have told you how I feel enough for you to know. I told her I wasn't interested."

She smiles. "Don't be mad at me."

I gently stroked her cheek. "You're just going to have to accept I love you."

I bring my lips to hers, kissing her lustfully.

Later that day, I lay with Kiara in the tent. She looks so beautiful, wearing only my flannel shirt and underwear. She climbs on top of me, straddling me. She runs her hands over my chest. I run my hand up her shirt.

"Chetan, I am ready and I want you." She doesn't have to tell me twice.

I smile. Flipping us over so she was on the bottom.

I take off my shirt and kiss her neck. She runs her fingers through my hair.

"I love you Chetan."

I nibble on her ear. "I love you most."

I take off her shirt and I kiss down her stomach.

"You sure baby?"

She nods.

I watch Kiara sleeping peacefully next to me. I know this girl is my whole world, she's so sweet. If she's not my mate, I don't know how I could love anyone else more.

The next day, I sit in the principal's office watching the footage of me beating up Brody and Adam. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically.

"You find this funny Chetan?" I see the principal's face turn red.

"Obviously, I am laughing."

" Chetan," the coach barks at me."

"Look lucky nobody wants to press charges, and because of the championship game, we can't expel you," the principal tells me.

I stand up from my chair, pressing my hands together. I know the move I am going to make. Give the second string quarterback a chance. I know he has talent, and I know they're going to win.

"I don't deserve any special treatment, draw up the paperwork and I will sign it."

"Chetan no", the coach yells at me.

" Draw up the paperwork."

"Chetan, are you crazy, we worked too hard for this, you worked too hard for this." I see Coach getting upset.

"What's the point of the scouts watching me when I can't even play college ball next year? Give somebody else a chance?"

The principal passes me a yellow slip of two days expulsion from school. I quickly sign it without needing to think.

I pass coach my football jersey. I mean, yes, it was a little sad, but it was the right choice. Why take the opportunity from somebody else? I am fully dedicated to Ajay and the werewolves. Sandy Shores is my truthful, rightful future.

As the story is told, Kiara wasn't my rightful mate, but I'll never regret the time I spent loving her. Giving her up to Cricket was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But I know he loves her, he's her mark mate.

But my eyes are constantly watching him, and if he doesn't treat her the way I would. He will answer to me.

The end.
