Chapter 1 This Time I'll Do Better

Life is fickle, and thus as a being which is alive so is man. People will wish for death, but then refuse to die, fear death, but hate being alive. People will love, but that love will easily turn into hate, and that hate just as easily turns into love again. A sort of duality occurs, love hate, life death, joy sorrow, hope hopelessness. Thus is man fickle, or is it simply the duality of man?

'Looking back on it, I never achieved anything I wanted to achieve. Living life in the moment they said, but the moment was fleeting and unfulfilling. Was that truly a life I lived, a life of constantly doing nothing but hoping that some time in the future I would do better.' Bob thought to himself a he bled out on the floor.

His fate was truly unfortunate. On a normal Tuesday evening, walking down the same street he always walked down, he was stabbed. For what reason Bob didn't know. Did he deserve it? Probably not. Was it sheer chance? Maybe, but seeing as he was dying Bob didn't really care.

Slowly but surely Bob felt his body grow colder and colder. 'I guess this is how I go.' Bob sighed as he looked up at the night sky. Gathering that last bits of his strength, Bob opened his mouth for the final time "I-If there is a next time, I swear I'll do better!"

"Young Master lunch is about to be served." A maid said as she lightly bowed towards a young boy in front of her. The young boy who was waving his sword around, sheathed it before turning towards the maid.

"Already? Lead the way then." The young boy replied before the maid led him towards the dining hall. 'Despite living here for the past 12 years the compound still amazes me.' He thought as he walked through the halls.

Naturally this was Bob. After dying he found himself reincarnated in another world, and not just any old world, but a cultivation world and as the young master of a decently sized clan. All things considered he had received quite a decent life.

Finally after walking for about 10 minutes, the maid and Bob arrived at the dining hall. "Thank you." Bob nodded towards the maid before entering the hall.

"Yu Haoyu what took you so long?" A well dressed woman who was sitting at the table asked. "Oh don't bother him too much Mei'er, he was probably practicing his sword again." The man at the head of the table cut in.

These were Bob's, or well Yu Haoyu's parents Hua Mei and Yu Aotian. They were both quite great and despite the weirdness that Yu Haoyu felt due to being a reincarnator he still loved them and thought of them as good parents.

"As father said I was out practicing. My Torrential Rain Sword should be nearing Lesser Mastery." He replied as he took a seat at the table.

"Lesser Mastery already? You're indeed the genius of my Yu clan!" Yu Aotian chuckled before digging into the food. "As soon as you achieve Lesser Mastery come find me, I'll get you a reward to boost your cultivation." He continued with a smile.

Despite the fact that his father was the Clan Head, he couldn't simply take whatever he wanted. There were processes in the clan, and the Elders had to approve but this didn't typically hinder Yu Haoyu as due to his diligence he had been astounding since a young age.

Just as he had promised when he died in his previous life, this time he was doing better. He didn't take anything for granted, and trained hard. 'The 4 Geniuses Tournament is coming up soon, if I can't reach Lesser Mastery by then I won't stand a chance.' Yu Haoyu pondered as he ate his food.

"Dear it seems he lost track again." Hua Mei shook her head, to which her husband simply smiled before the three continued eating in silence. Upon finishing his food Yu Haoyu immediately rose from his seat before bowing lightly to his parents.

"If that is all then Haoyu will be going to train." He declared. At this point his parents were used to his behavior so they simply nodded, his father reminding him to seek him after reaching Lesser Mastery.

"Torrential Rain Sword, a High Grade Mortal Rank Manual. To reach initial mastery one must first be able to perform 2 basic moves Raindrop and Torrent, this is my current level. On the other hand Lesser Mastery requires one to perform Downpour a significantly stronger and harder move to master." He muttered to himself before performing Raindrop and Torrent.

This sword art was the strongest in his Clan, and he'd been training it for the past 2 years ever since he began his cultivation. On average it took people 3 years to even reach Initial Mastery, let alone near Lesser Mastery so despite how it may seem Yu Haoyu had progressed quite quickly.

'My sword, it isn't swift enough. To perform a move like downpour unrelenting speed is required.' With his qi channeling through his body Yu Haoyu repeatedly stabbed his sword out, before finally a multitude of afterimages formed.

"Torrential Rain Sword: Downpour!" Yu Haoyu declared as the air shook under his sword. This was his goal, Lesser Mastery. In under an hour since he informed his parents he had already attained his goal.

"I guess I should go get my reward." He chuckled before sheathing his sword and heading towards his father's study.
