"WHAT!?" Yu Aotian roared in shock as he locked eyes with Yu Haoyu. "Repeat what you just said Yu'er." He continued calming down somewhat. The boy had already expected this reaction and merely cracked a small smile.
"Father I've achieved Lesser Mastery in the Torrential Rain Sword." Immediately Yu Aotian's jaw opened widely once again. It was safe to say that he was speechless at this moment. Within a few seconds Yu Aotian swiftly composed himself before nodding at this son.
"I'll gather the Elders and then we'll discuss about your reward. For now you can go relax." His father declared before dismissing him. 'Truly a monster that boy, even I a genius of the Clan only reached Lesser Mastery by the age of 13 and he did it at barely 12.' Yu Aotian sighed before leaving his study. It was time to gather the Elders.
A few minutes later the 5 Elders of the Yu Clan had gathered within the Elder Hall. Every single one of them was a prominent figure within Marble City, after all if they weren't how could the Yu Clan be one of the 4 strongest clans within the city.
"What happened now?" The most prominent Elder asked. He had a long grey beard and his face was wrinkled, despite this he still had an aura of liveliness about him. This was the 1st Elder and Yu Aotian's uncle, Yu Chen.
"Well as you all know my son Haoyu is quite the hard worker, and with the 4 Geniuses Tournament coming up he's been putting in extra effort." Yu Aotian explained.
"Get to the point, or are you trying to say that just because the tournament is coming up we should give him even more resources." Yu Chen snapped, he was never one for long winded explanations.
"Esteemed Uncle let me finish before passing judgement. As I was saying Haoyu has been putting in extra effort, and because of this he's made significant progress in his Torrential Rain Sword reaching Lesser Master." The Clan Head concluded.
Immediately the 5 Elders all stood up in shock. "Are you serious!?" Yu Chen replied in disbelief, this wasn't a small matter in fact it was of significant importance to the Clan as a whole.
"Do we actually have a chance of winning the tournament!?" Yu Tiankuo, the 4th Elder, said in shock. Right now this was what was on all of their minds. Out of the 4 Clans of Marble City the Yu Clan had always ranked lasted, but if they could win the 4 Geniuses Tournament everything would change.
"Precisely, which is why I think we should give Haoyu the Qi Compression Pill." Yu Aotian proposed. Once again the 5 Elders were shocked by the words of their Clan Head.
"Even if he is a great genius isn't the Qi Compression Pill too much?" The 5th Elder Yu Dishi chimed in.
"What is a Qi Compression Pill if we can win the 4 Geniuses Tournament? As treasurer you should know better than anyone that if we win, we could not only buy another Qi Compression Pill but even 3 or 4 more!" Yu Aotian declared his voice full of conviction.
"But that's only if we win, if we lose we'll be down a Qi Compression Pill. While I do agree Yu Haoyu is a great genius he isn't at the level where we can simply place the entirety of the Clan's hopes upon him." The 2nd Elder argued.
"I agree with Old Second." Yu Dishi added making his stance clear.
"I think we should be willing to bet on the younger generation, I approve of giving Yu Haoyu the Qi Compression Pill." Yu Tiankuo retorted.
On the other hand the 3rd and 1st Elders stayed silent, but this was par for the course. It was extremely rare for the 3rd Elder to give his opinion, while the 1st Elder was always the last to give his decision on a matter.
Because of this everyone in the room was intently looking at the 1st Elder who was currently contemplating. 'What would they do...' The old man pondered before a decisive light flashed within his eyes.
"Give him the pill." Yu Chen decided. After that Yu Aotian and the Elders moved onto other matters seeing as they were already gathered together. This lasted late into the night. Once everything was all said and done Yu Aotian retrieved the Qi Compression Pill before heading to Yu Haoyu's room.
"Knock. Knock."
Yu Aotian knocked gently on the door, but there was no response. After waiting for some time, Yu Aotian had guessed what was going on and simply opened the door. As he suspected his son was sitting atop his bed cultivating.
'He never wastes a minute does he? In that case I'll just leave the pill here for him, luckily I already prepared a note just in case he was asleep.' Placing the container down with the note, he then left the room as quietly as possible closing the door behind him.
'Why do I feel like there was a fluctuation in the air...well it doesn't matter anyway I should just continue cultivating.' Yu Haoyu thought to himself as he continued circulating his qi, breakthroughs wouldn't make themselves.
